The Director of Research Finance is responsible for providing leadership, training, daily management, planning, coordination and supervision of the complex financial activities in the Moore's Cancer Center (MCC) Business Office. They are responsible for Pre-Award, Post-Award, Budgeting, Financial Analysis and serving as a strategic thought partner to the Executive Director, Administration and to their clinical financial counterpart, the Director of Oncology Finance.
Responsibilities include oversight of $73M in Federal, State, Private, Foundation, and other sponsored and non-sponsored research grants. The Director has oversight of a pre-award office that manages in excess of 300+ grants, contracts, amendments, and proposals submitted per year. The team also manages a $30M+ portfolio of gift funds under the control of the cancer center director and/ or cancer investigators. The Director manages a robust and diverse team of Post-Award Fund Managers, Pre-Award Fund managers, and Financial Analysts. The teams are headed by a Senior Manager, Budgets and Finance and a Senior Manager of Grants and Contracts who in turn report to the Director.
The Director has oversight of the Moore's Cancer Center's central organizational finances, budgeting/tracking/analyzing/projecting expenditures and investments for the five research programs, five research themes, and seven shared resources. The Director has responsibility for the P&L of Research and Academic Administration with revenue sources from grants, clinical funds flow, contracts, recharges, IDC, and philanthropy.
The Director has oversight for the Kick It California program's $11M budget and expenses and the Clinical Trials Office's $8.3M budget and dotted line oversight for both teams.
The Director will provide complex fiscal advisement, strategy, consultation, and guidance on complex policies, procedures and funding agencies. Will participate and contribute in short-term operations and in long range goals for MCC, making recommendations on complex, sensitive and confidential special projects. Will represent MCC on finance related Health Sciences (HS) and Campus wide committees and meetings. Will serve as liaison as necessary with the HS Dean's Office, HR, RSC, ARC, HSPPO, Office of Contract and Grant Administration (OCGA), Office of Post-Award Financial Services (OPAFS) and other central offices. Will be the supervisory lead for crafting the draft yearly HS Budget and SalPro processes, ensuring internal HS deadlines and goals are met. Will provide support and advice regarding fiscal policies, training, and handling resolution of policy interpretation and implementation. Maintains relationships with all administrative staff who support MCC faculty, including in other departments.

Works on complex issues with little or no precedent where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Is considered a subject matter expert. Internal and external contacts often pertain to organizational plans and objectives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
An Advanced degree in related area, plus seven years of relevant finance experience; OR equivalent combination of experience and education/training.
