The Director of Finance for University Development is a member of the University Development Business and Operations team, reports directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Business and Operations, and works closely with University Development Office (UDO) leadership. UDO consists of 20+ departments (approximately 170 full-time employees when fully staffed).

The Director of Finance is responsible for the overall day-to-day budget and finance operations and reporting for the UDO. This position also coordinates with the 30+ development operations teams within schools and units throughout the university that comprise OneCarolina. This position manages a four-person team which is responsible for budget, finance, and facilities management. This position has oversight of a complex mixture of funds, including restricted gift funds and endowments, foundation funds, endowment administrative fee funds, and state funds. Primary duties include administering finance policies, programs, and practices, as well as budget development, forecasting, and monitoring, with a strong emphasis on personnel expense planning and management. The Director of Finance is responsible for compliance with all federal, state, foundation, and university requirements, and industry best practices. This position will collaborate with units to refine and conduct an audit process to confirm funds are spent according to gift agreements, donor intent, and trust fund authorities. This position will also be responsible for creating and collaborating with team members to create various ad-hoc and regular budget and financial reports for UDO, OncCarolina partners, or university central offices.

Bachelor's degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or Associate's degree in accounting; or Associate's degree in business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
