The Grants and Finance Administrator is an integral member of a team that provides direct support for proposal development, preparation, and submission to Sponsored Programs as well as post-award financial account management for an assigned portfolio of faculty. This role represents the faculty in communication and collaboration with university administrative offices and with federal and private funding agencies for sponsored research. The GFA is part of a Shared Services model and team, which supports faculty across various Schools, Colleges, and Centers. A primary portfolio will be assigned and when needed, this position will back up others in the Shared Services team - providing seamless coverage during staff absences or high-volume deadlines. For this position, the GFAs primary assignment will be to support Boston University's newly established Center for Innovation in Social Sciences. Their focus will be to assist faculty affiliated with the Center in securing and managing sponsored funding for new and exciting research, as well as teaching, mentoring, or outreach initiatives. The GFA will play a key role in establishing, supporting, and expanding the Center whose mission is to forge collaborative multidisciplinary research and in training generations of undergraduate and graduate students in the social sciences. The Center for Innovation in Social Science will serve as a catalyst for and champion of the Social Sciences at Boston University. This position reports to Sponsored Programs and staff will benefit from professional society memberships, training and development opportunities, and an expanded network of colleagues in addition to serving on our Advisory Council for Research Administration. We are seeking dynamic and dedicated professionals who have a desire to be part of a growing team and service. You choose where you want to work the majority of the workweek (on-campus or remote). On-campus work will take place at the Center, which is located conveniently on BUs central campus.
Bachelor's degree required, and 5+years of experience in a grant office. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of customer service, curiosity and life-long learner, someone with the ability to be flexible and work comfortably both independently and as part of a team. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and bend to lift items. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products, catering and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
