The mission of the Information Technology Group (ITG) is to develop, implement and maintain technology-based services and solutions enabling OHSU to effectively manage information to accomplish its missions.
OHSU Hospital Financial Services is refining its budgeting, forecasting, and reporting systems as part of a broader effort in support of the expansion of the OHSU Healthcare System.Satisfying this need will include deployment of on-premise and cloud-based software solutions.In addition, chart of accounts, forecasting, and business processes will be optimized to assure OHSU Healthcare has a strong foundation to support OHSU 2025 initiatives and beyond.These deliverables require an experienced Project Manager to lead this effort in a hospital environment.
This position must work with all levels of the organization, including vice presidents, administrators, department directors, managers, staff, users as well as vendors, in the design, development, and implementation of healthcare finance and business intelligence applications on multiple technical platforms. This person will help coordinate and prioritize appropriate hospital finance, clinical, business intelligence analysts, and developer resources and contractors as needed to meet these deliverables.
Healthcare project management experience, especially in relation to hospital revenue cycle and financial planning and analysis systems is strongly desired.
The Hospital Finance Systems Project Manager will be responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of implementation of OHSU Hospital Financial Services projects and the required financial planning & analysis systems. This position:
Serves as the Scrum Master for the project in coordination with project resources and the product owner, executing the project in a standard Agile methodology
Leverages Team Foundation Server (TFS), Jira Project Management, Smartsheet.com, or MS Project as needed for management of Sprint execution
Coordinates and directs internal and external resources to ensure successful project completion, respecting project budget, scope, and schedule.
Creates and maintains comprehensive project documentation
Performs risk analysis/management
Tracks project performance against plan
Develops a comprehensive project plan, including implementation phases as needed
Works with customers and internal resources to smoothly transition support to operations at the conclusion of the project
In consultation with various stakeholders, defines success metrics and drives user adoption and organizational and patient value.
Creates project reports and presentations to communicate project information to stakeholders at various organizational levels
Drives process and content standardization during system implementation
Follows change control processes to ensure proper vetting of project change requests
Bachelors degree in computer science, information technology, hospital administration, or related field with experience in healthcare IT.
Five years experience in a complex technology environment, including hands-on experience with process improvement initiatives.
Five or more years experience as a Project manager, leading and implementing large scale financial information system projects in a healthcare organization.
Experience utilizing Jira or Team Foundation Server (TFS) for Project schedules, Kanban, and resource planning
Prior experience with implementation of complex enterprise applications and databases; clinical records systems; infrastructure setup/configuration projects, quality assurance processes and controls.
Successful candidates must show that they have significant organizational skills and can lead projects from conception, schedule, design, testing, through implementation.
Job Related Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the academic or community hospital healthcare environment.
Expert level knowledge in MS Project, Excel, Visio (or equivalent diagramming/vector graphics application); MS SharePoint intermediate level knowledge
Knowledge of Hospital Billing revenue cycles, preferably in an Epic Systems environment.
Effective leadership of highly-skilled financial analysts or technical personnel in overseeing the development and implementation of applications.
Ability to operate in a highly stressful environment, demonstrating good judgment and creative/original thinking to address the demands of the business.
Ability to influence, motivate and provide clear direction.
Skilled in overseeing multiple projects with budget responsibilities.
Demonstrated skill in managing operational and capital budgets.
Significant organizational and management skills, specifically within a large organization.
Must have excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills: both verbal and written.
Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to work independently, and as part of a team, while being collaborative in resolving problems.
Must have demonstrated excellent customer service skills both on the phone and in person.
Must have a thorough understanding of industry standard principles of project management such as those defined in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (published by Project Management Institute).
Must have thorough understanding of Agile/SCRUM and the ability to apply this methodology to manage and implement complex, large-scale information systems projects.
Registrations, Certifications, and/or Licenses:
Current Scrum Master Certification.
Project Management Professional Certification (PMP Certification) or equivalent (preferred)
