Reporting to the Associate Dean for Finance, Strategy and Operations, the Executive Director for Finance and Building Services assumes a major role in the financial and operational decision-making and policy formation of the Law School. Specific areas of responsibility include Budget, Procurement, Accounts Payable and Building Services. This position has responsibility for managing the annual operating budget and provides oversight of capital projects and building operations.
Manages the Law School???s annual operating budget and develops long-range financial forecasts to ensure efficient resource allocation and adequate funding for operations and long-term capital needs. Works closely with the Associate Dean, Director of Research Administration and Compliance, Executive Director for Financial Aid, and key campus partners in CU Finance to provide oversight of year-end closing, annual budget submission, quarterly variance reporting, procurement and accounts payable transactions, and compliance with University and Law School business policy.
Primarily responsible for the Law School???s master space plan, including space allocation and workspace assignment, strategic planning and analytical modeling of the Law School???s multi-year space needs, management of the Law School???s central improvements budget, and oversight of the Law School???s project and housing portfolio.
Leads the Business Office and Building Services units and provides supervision to staff.
Collaborates with the senior leadership and faculty through the development of ad hoc analysis and reporting related to funding requests and special financial projects.
Develops change management and communications strategies to support Law School operations and strategic initiatives, including for space renovations and capital projects, campus security updates, financial policy and procedures, and technology upgrades.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
BA required; advanced degree preferred. Minimum eight years related managerial experience (preferably in university administration) or a relevant combination of education and experience highly desirable. Demonstrated capacity for high-level strategic thinking and creativity, especially as it relates to issues of organizational design and efficiency. Experience with managing complexity and instituting new policies and procedures using a data-driven approach a must. Superior judgment, discretion, and interpersonal abilities, as well as strong financial budgeting, information technology abilities, written and organizational skills. Must be able to work with diverse constituencies and support an inclusive work environment.
