The Associate Director of Finance and Operations (ADFO) is responsible for all aspects of finance and research administration operations across two basic science research institutes. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration (DFA), the ADFO manages, plans, and administers a full range of financial and operational objectives for both, the Institute for Human Genetics (IHG) and the Institute for Regeneration Medicine and Stem Cell Research (IRM) which are located at the Parnassus Heights Campus.
Responsible for providing analytical support for multiple highly complex financial budgets, HR issues, and space planning projects. The ADFO will be responsible for preparing short- and long-range financial objectives for multiple institute operations. Responsibilities include day to day oversight of two institute budgets including grants, 1900 funds, recharges, gifts, endowments, and privately funded projects for faculty research programs. The ADFO will provide guidance and counsel on complex financial matters, including compliance regulations. Working with the DFA, manage human resource related matters for both groups, acting as a liaison with the HR Service Center and carrying out tasks that are out of the scope of the HR service center. The ADFO must operate with a high degree of autonomy, resolving problems proactively and independently.
