The Rapid Diagnostics Division at Abbott is a part of our Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies.
The primary objective of this position is to provide financial leadership to senior management including decision-orientated and timely guidance on strategic plans, financial accounting, reporting, planning and analysis activities. Responsibilities include monthly accounting and reporting, Plans, Rate/Standards setting, LBE's, LRP's, various analysis and special projects as well as the support of internal as well as external audit and tax reporting requirements.
Provides strategic guidance to manager and division functional sr. leadership resulting from financial planning, analysis and reporting. Financial planning and analysis may include any combination of the following: revenue analysis reporting, shareholder value analysis, market modeling, business development analysis, profit and loss reporting and planning, budget establishment/forecasting/tracking, gross margin analysis, workforce planning analysis, investment analysis, cash flow management, finance system planning, etc. Must be proactive in originating, participating in, and executing strategies necessary to enhance the cost effectiveness of the Division and achievement of both short-term and long-term objectives.
Provides leadership to assigned managers through setting goals which align to company and division annual operating plans and manages the execution of goals through coaching and mentoring.
Presents financial planning, analysis and reporting results to senior leadership on a regular basis to ensure the division is achieving strategic plan and annual operating plan commitments.
Effectively summarizing into key points for senior leadership and be able to adjust message when dealing with non-finance personnel within and outside the Division.
In providing counsel to the Division, Finance Director must be flexible, adapting to changing priorities, demonstrate persistence in following through, and likewise be able to make timely decisions oftentimes with limited data.
Develops and implements common financial procedures and processes across multiple divisions/service groups by influence management.
Leads the development of revenue growth strategies across multiple divisions by influence management.
Collaborates with other leaders to ensure proper accounting and forecasting of divisional financial results.
Hires and retains a diverse, highly qualified staff and provides ongoing performance feedback. Maintains a safe and professional work environment.
Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
Capital Projects and Project Accounting: Directs and has full responsibility for tracking and capitalization of related capital projects (RCEs) and project expense. Will also review and assess RCEs, including related DCF/ROI analysis, justifications, etc. for the Division and Sister Divisions per CFMs, challenging assumptions where appropriate to ensure accurate presentation. Oversee the pooling and assigning of fixed assets to Sister Divisions as part of the planning process.
People Development: Position directly supervises a staff, including multiple direct reports. Lead the development of finance employees by recruiting highly qualified personnel to the organization, retaining and developing both direct and indirect reports by providing challenging opportunities and advancing personnel as appropriate. To be an enthusiastic role model for the staff.
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related, plus 15 years Progressively responsible experience in all phases of finance and cost accounting in a complex multi-site manufacturing environment.
7+ years leading teams
Must have a solid working knowledge of general accepted accounting principles as well as Abbott accounting procedures (CFMs).
There is considerable contact with a variety of financial and operating personnel at various levels in other Divisions and Corporate, and as a result a high degree of human relations and communication's skills is required.
INTERNAL CONTROLS--must have an excellent understanding of internal controls and audit concepts to ensure deficiencies in internal controls are highlighted appropriately and audit questions are anticipated accordingly.
PROBLEM SOLVING-Requires the ability to understand, discuss and direct others in a variety of complex technical accounting and business situations.
Requires an understanding of the related functions both within the Division and the rest of the Corporation. This includes evaluating results and making recommendations for improvement. It also includes planning for constant change within the Division.
Creativity and the ability to work in an ambiguous and unstructured environment are necessary skills.
