Responsible for the initial implementation and ongoing execution of a new Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI) strategic scenario forecasting process. Responsible to collect, coordinate, and align specific scenario assumptions and inputs with stakeholder groups for use in the NNI scenario forecast model. Will act as the central owner, operator, and gatekeeper of the NNI scenario forecast model to ensure the integrity of model data and outputs. Will identify and summarize model findings and recommendations for discussion and alignment with the Senior Director of strategic finance before presentation to relevant stakeholder groups. Will play an active role in ensuring the synchronization, coordination, and ongoing alignment of the NNI strategic forecast process with other relevant forecast processes as appropriate.
Reports to the Senior Director of Strategic Finance. Internal interactions include NNI Enterprise strategy team, line of business stakeholders, NNI LT, functional leads, NN Insights & Forecasting, Corporate Financial Planning, Business Development and other HQ counterparts to ensure strategic scenario forecasting coordination across Novo Nordisk. External relationships may include interactions with various subject matter experts and vendors based on the needs of special projects or implementation of new programs.
Actively engage with key stakeholders to develop financial scenarios and to assist the Sr. Director of Strategic Finance with the development of NNI enterprise and portfolio strategy
Actively coordinate and align with other forecast process owners to ensure synchronization and consistency with the strategic scenario forecast process where relevant
Maintain and operate the NNI scenario forecast model tool. Perform periodic data updates and review same for ongoing integrity
Review initial model output and findings for reasonableness and summarize with recommendations for discussion and alignment with the Senior Director of Strategic Finance before presentation to stakeholder groups
Assist the Senior Director of Strategic Finance in the development of financial recommendations based on internal and external analyses and investment alternatives
Will be part of the Strategic Scenario Forecasting team that has the mandate to; Actively manage the strategic scenario forecasting at NNI in support of the 3-5 year business strategy for Novo Nordisk, Inc. to ensure evidence based foundation for strategic direction for NNI and the Business Units
Establish and continuously adapt NNIs strategic forecasting process to guide and coordinate various levels of cross-organizational input to strategic forecasts in guidance of strategy development, business development and ad hoc scenarios
Identify, prioritize and review key strategic financial scenarios with the aim of communicating and challenging priority on the key drivers
Maintains an enterprise lens to ensure enterprise-wide initiatives, scenarios, risks, and opportunities are reflected in the financial scenarios
Ensures alignment of BU and Functional (Diabetes Sales, Market Access, and Medical) processes to NNIs scenario forecasting process in order to drive simplicity, accuracy, and efficiency relative to pursuing common goals
Partners with business units to facilitate development of relevant financial scenarios for business unit and portfolio strategy development
Develops recommendations to business unit heads as well as senior management based on financial analyses of strategic questions/options and provide evidenced-based recommendations
Conducts trade-off analyses to inform investment decisions
Partners with Enterprise Strategy, Commercial Insights and Analytics, Pricing, Contracting, Operations and Reimbursement (PCOR), Market Access, Public Affairs and Clinical Medical Regulatory (CMR) as well as and BU leaders to drive and align strategic scenario forecasting inputs and outputs
Serves as liaison and strong collaborator with NNI and Global stakeholders
0-10% overnight travel required.
A Bachelor 's degree in Accounting, Finance and or relevant field of study is required, advanced degree is preferred
A minimum of 6 years of progressively relevant financial planning, strategic planning, merger and acquisition, consultancy experience required; pharmaceutical or CPG industries strongly preferred. Two years of relevant experience may be substituted for advanced degree
Functional expert in Excel and Powerpoint. Hands-on experience with financial modelling and/or sales forecasting strongly preferred
Strategy development as well as Business Development experience strongly preferred
Understanding of the external marketplace and familiarity in metabolic disease areas preferred
Strategic thinker with excellent analytical and financial forecasting ability. Ability to collaborate across all functions and levels
Strong decision-making skills through demonstrated ability to leverage evidenced-based insights and sound judgement into strategy development, deployment and optimization
Must possess the ability to develop simple and clear communications and to present same to all levels of stakeholders
Project management, process development and change management experience a plus
Ability to manage competing priorities; strong organizational skills; demonstrated ability to streamline and simplify complex concepts for broader audience
