Essential Functions: JOB PURPOSE: Support Finance information technology needs and serve as a primary liaison between finance functional users and C&IT. Support the Finance strategic planning and decision making by transforming data into insights that drive organizational performance through the development and distribution of Finance analytics and reporting. Collaborate with professionals from other business areas to define business problems; determine key metrics; identify data trends and communicate key findings utilizing various enterprise-level finance analytics and reporting tools. The position will report to the Director, Office of Fiscal Operations.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Work with administration and staff to assess and respond to unit's information technology needs. Oversee the development, design, and implementation of new applications and changes to existing computer systems and software packages. Perform testing of system upgrades and/or modifications as they are released. Provide operational reporting, dashboards and statistical analyses of data used in compiling information and reporting on the University's strategic indicators, operational performance, and organizational performance dashboards. Determines best source of data to conduct predictive modelling to support data driven decision making.Lead critical and complex IT projects in unit. Conducts data mining, validation, extraction, cleansing and loading processes using various technical languages, methods and tools. Participates in testing and deployment of Finance Analytics and Reporting tools and other IT Finance software, application implementations and upgrades.Provide overall leadership and direction to staff. Assign duties, evaluate activities, prepare performance appraisals and professional development plans. Provide coaching, mentoring and training. Responsible for hiring, promotions, terminations, disciplinary procedures, and salary adjustments. Provide ongoing performance feedback. Plan for future staffing needs.Research and communicate findings related to Finance Analytics and Reporting emerging technologies, new applications and new data analysis methodologies. Participate in technology planning activities including assessment of new computing technologies and the feasibility of system enhancements to determine value.Represent the unit in University-wide task forces or special projects relating to technology issues.Participates in Finance Data Governance initiatives.Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field from an accredited college or university.EXPERIENCE:Expert (established subject matter expert, 7+ years experience) A minimum of 7 years related experience is required. Experience in accounting data management, report development, dashboards, data visualizations and scorecards using business intelligence and visualization software are preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Strong knowledge of current methods of finance data management and analysis across a large, complex institution. Query language and statistical software skills.Excellent data management skills including the ability to analyze, synthesize, and graphically represent finance data to diverse audiences in support of decision-making. Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability and willingness to re-evaluate and improve analytical and reporting activities.Extensive knowledge of reporting analytics solutions (i.e. Cognos Analytics, Power BI, Tableau, MS Excel, MS Access). Expert knowledge of data extraction methodologies for reporting and dashboard development. Proficient with associated computer languages, applications and programs (i.e. TOAD, MS Excel, SQL etc.).Extensive knowledge of data collection and analysis techniques. Strong understanding of data sources, database design, and development logic and constructs especially as related to data warehouse technology.Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with a variety of people. Skilled in writing procedures, guidelines and application documentation. Able to communicate technical and analytical information verbally and in written reports. Excellent project management skills.
