Reporting to the Assistant Director, Finance Operations, the Specialist, Finance and Operations provides operational support to the Finance and Strategy department. The Specialist is responsible for collaborating with various groups within the organization to provide fiscal, administrative, clerical, operational and analytical support to the Finance and Strategy team to improve the performance, productivity, efficiency and effectiveness of the Finance department.
The Specialist plays a key role in the finance accounting and reporting, collaborating with all members of the Finance Department by assisting with the finance operations by processing, coordinating, managing and monitoring the finance operations. The position is responsible for providing administrative support to key functions such as Accounts Payable, Payroll, Petty Cash, Purchasing and Procurement, Billing, and internal financial reporting. The Specialist is an integral part of the monthly, quarterly, and annual process to ensure that financial information has been recorded accurately.
Finance Operations (90% of total job)
Oversee the financial processing, including payroll, accounts payable, TBER, Purchase order requests, Vendors, etc.
With oversight from the AD of Finance Operations, develop and implement finance operations policies and procedures; ensuring SPS is in compliance with the University regarding finance policies
Execute accurate and on-time month-, quarter-, and year-end closing of the School's budget in-line with the University and Arts & Science policies and procedures as it relates to finance operations by providing support for the following:
Accruals and journals as appropriate
Financial statement audits
Proactive management of Accounts Payable transactions
Petty Cash processing
Travel and Business Expense Reimbursement
Travel advance processing
Design and develop ad hoc financial analysis to support program and department goals and objectives are performed timely and accurately
Supports leadership in ad hoc, high priority initiatives as needed
Provide new hire training on finance policies and procedures
May assume some of the responsibilities of the Associate Director Finance Operations in his/her absence or by delegation in her/his presence
Performs other duties as assigned or requested (10% of total job)
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
Minimum two years of related experience required

Familiarity with University Financial Management systems, FFE, ARC and PeopleSoft/Oracle are preferred
