Finance is a global function at Fidelity International, with close to 300 dedicated employees across 12 locations including UK, Germany, Bermuda, Australia, India and China. The Finance Department supports the management of the business in the achievement of its goals and objectives and improves shareholder value by delivering relevant financial information and valuable insight to support business decisions. Finance is part of the CFO Group, which also includes Strategy Initiatives, Business Consulting, Procurement and Business Continuity Management.
Within Finance, the ISS Finance team is responsible for providing financial analysis, information, forecasting and insight to senior ISS leaders within Investment Management, Distribution and Operations, as well as to the ISS ExCo and other relevant ISS management committees.
About Investment Solutions & Services (ISS) and Investment Management (IM)
ISS is Fidelity International's asset management business which offers and distributes Fidelity's investment solutions and services to a wide range of wholesale and institutional clients including financial advisers, brokers, banks, insurance companies, wealth managers, third party platforms, pension funds, public authorities and sovereign wealth funds. ISS comprises Investment Management, Distribution and Operations.
Investment Management is the heritage of Fidelity International. Fidelity's investment professionals manage c$350Bn of client assets under management across Equity, Fixed Income, Real Estate and Multi Asset. This money is principally run from our investment hubs in London, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney. Increasing use is made of developing capability in Gurgaon & Dalian. Investment Management comprises around 800 full time equivalent staff and includes all of Fidelity's investment professionals, as well as the Global Product team. Leadership of Investment Management sits with Fidelity's Global Chief Investment Officer (CIO), supported by the Investment Management Committee (IMC) and the Investment Management Leadership Team (IMLT).
Purpose of your role
The purpose of this role is to support the Director, ISS Business Finance, in partnering with the senior business leaders within the Investment Solutions & Services function, providing high quality financial insight, advice and challenge as well as supporting the achievement of the strategy and goals of the ISS business, aligning to the high level objectives and principles of the Finance group. Key elements of the role include:
Direct business partnering with senior members of the Product team. This will involve the development of a broad understanding of the Fidelity business model and a deep understanding of all aspects of Fidelity products and services.
Building credibility through the provision of clearly presented financial information, supporting the goal of delivering real value and influence over decision making within these areas.
Supporting the global and strategic initiatives of the Product team (delivery & development), including Value for Money, Fusion, All in Fee, ETFs, etc., ensuring they are founded in robust financial analysis, contributing to the evolution, growth and efficiency of the organisation.
Assist the proposition team in preparing pricing models, actively challenging assumptions for the business case.
Delivery of business finance services to the product team on a global basis, including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, management reporting, business case construction, pricing strategy and support and expense & headcount scrutiny, drawing on Finance shared services and liaising with other Finance teams to leverage best practice.
Supporting the achievement of the financial objectives of ISS and the wider Fidelity organisation, contributing pro-actively to global Finance projects and initiatives.
Supporting the Director, ISS Business Finance in building a cohesive, empowered and motivated ISS Business Finance team. This includes matrix management of a dedicated sub-team within the ISS Finance team in Gurgaon, India and Asia.
The role will involve some travel between UK sites and could also include occasional travel to India and other locations globally.
Owning the day to day finance relationship with the Global Head of Product and his team, ensuring effective co-ordination of views and activities with the Director, ISS Business Finance in her partnership with the CFO ISS and the Head of Investment Management Business Finance.
Provide financial insight, guidance and challenge to the product team, supporting decision making and the achievement of objectives and broader ISS strategy.
Collaborate closely with Finance colleagues supporting Distribution to ensure decisions are joined up and in the wider interests of the ISS business and FIL.
Enhance the quality of analysis and interpretation such that it provides deeper financial insight and facilitates stakeholder thinking and decisions, for example to support product or service construction and pricing decisions.
Developing and implementing enhanced insight into product costings, developing standardised models to analyse products and services and challenging and supporting decisions leading to improved product profitability.
Partner with the Product team to provide financial support, insight and challenge on regulatory change projects such as Value for Money.
Provide leadership, support and guidance to stakeholders in the completion of business opportunity appraisals (BOAs) for relevant global initiatives and deliver robust post-investment tracking and re-forecasting of costs and benefits.
Lead the construction and agreement of a fit-for-purpose quarterly rolling 3 year financial forecast for the Product Team.
Promote a deeper understanding of the drivers of direct and allocated costs in support of efficiency initiatives.
Support the Head of Investment Management Business Finance with independent review and input for headcount requests to ensure alignment to agreed plans.
Drive continuous improvement and timely delivery of regular MI, automating and standardising with wider group MI where possible.
Assist in the development and maintenance of a sound financial control environment.
Contribute to the ongoing improvement of information systems and data.
Experience and Qualifications Required
Graduate qualified accountant.
Experience of the asset management industry would be an advantage.
Experience of business finance roles and/or partnering internal clients would be an advantage.
Able to command respect from stakeholders and peers, comfortable playing a part in management discussions.
