We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Finance Assurance (Product Control) Manager - Global Finance.
The role encompasses managing the Finance Assurance activities across HSBC supporting the HBAP Assurance (Product Contol) Lead, Regional Head of Asia Financial Reporting Risk and Global Head of Finance Assurance
Exposure to the Finance BAU processes supported within HSBC Global Banking and Markets
Providing a platform to broadening and strengthen their knowledge of both business and finance processes and activities
Working with a Global team to address thematic and group wide assurance issues
Perform reviews on Finance processes, with emphasis on Product Control, in accordance with the relevant Policies and frameworks, including Non-Financial (Operational) Risk and SOX
Prepare and present an Assurance report detailing key findings to Finance senior management both locally and as required to the Global Finance management team
Identify remediation actions for control weaknesses identified during the review, collaborating where required with the 1LOD, and agree these with the line controllers. Where possible assist with planning remediation actions
Follow up with line controllers to ensure agreed actions are completed within committed timelines
Identify emerging operational risk themes and use these inputs to modify the Assurance control testing approach
Liaise with other internal control functions in particular Operational Risk as well as the business
As this is a senior role provide support to other team members across Finance Assurance as and when required
Assisting with the annual Control Monitoring Assurance (CMA) Planning and coordination of the execution of the Assurance testing plan with the other designated Assurance functions
Providing input and commentary to the CFO Risk Meeting as and when required
Support the Finance Risk Steward during their challenge and review of the Risk & Control Assessment (RCA) profile
Qualifications: Degree, Finance qualified (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, or similar)
Extensive years post qualification experience in a role involving the monitoring or operation of internal controls in banking together with an understanding of end-to-end financial reporting processes
Experience within a Product Control or Internal Audit function would be an advantage
Knowledge of the regulatory environment in the financial services sector.
Understanding of the key elements of both Non-Financial Risk and Sox Framework
Understanding of HSBCâ€™s activities, products, processes and systems within Global Banking and Markets would be an advantage
A working knowledge of derivatives products and valuation methodologies would be a strong advantage
Must be able to take ownership of key responsibilities, be a problem solver, query beyond the obvious and above all possess common sense
Self-starter and goal-oriented, the ideal candidate needs to be able to work independently, while supported within the larger team, and drive the completion of multiple requirements within set deadlines
Ability to provide structure and solution to problematic areas, to challenge information presented, providing reasoned explanation to ensure that agreement is reached by both parties
Strong oral and business writing skills being able to convey issues identified during reviews in an understandable manner to management and relevant control forums
Good people skills and ability to work effectively
