Position Summary: Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Manager of Finance and Operations for the Institute for Families at the Rutgers School of Social Work. Under the guidance of the Managing Director, the Manager of Finance and Operations leads the Institute's administrative capacity to manage a portfolio of more than $40M in award commitments supported through a team 70+ full-time, 25+ part-time and over 100 consultants and contractors delivering statewide services through four different facilities. This position is responsible for oversight of all contracting, fiscal, human resource, and operational functions for the Institute, including budgeting, facilities, and other administrative support areas, and works closely with the Managing Director on strategies related to the Institute's sustainability and development. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Responsible for achieving optimal operational efficiencies within the current University environment so that the Institute may excel in meeting its existing award commitments and satisfy stakeholder expectations while building its capacity and processes to support healthy, strategic growth toward realizing its mission and vision. Oversees contracting, financial and human resource functions, and works in tandem with the School's Business Services Team to complete required processes and reports. Supports the Managing Director and Institute's program directors in all fiscal and development efforts, manages the Institute's fiscal activities, and supports the School's Business Services team on contractual documentation and reporting requirements for all awards. Works independently to meet the organization's strategic objectives, with minimal supervision, possess specialized knowledge in finance and business administration, particularly related to state and federal awards, and have experience working with a diversity of funders and external stakeholders.Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as management, finance, business, human resources; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. A minimum of 5-7 years, of progressively responsible financial, human resources, and operational management experience in large organizations supported by with a diversity of funding streams, and comprehensive experience in strategic business and financial planning.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategies, plans and budgets in a complex, fast changing environment. Proven ability to contribute to strategic planning initiatives. Proven leadership and management of a diverse operation. Proven ability to work in an entrepreneurial, fast changing environment. High professional standards with the ability to effectively manage competing requirements and work with varied management styles. Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in a related field. Demonstrated success with finance and budgeting strategies and practices, human resources management, fiscal analysis and reporting and information technology programs in support of a highly complex organizational environment performing organization.Equipment Utilized: Specific knowledge of Excel and the MS office suite, Oracle, PeopleSoft, Cloud Financials.
