ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, Office of Student Finance: $95,000-$103,000 DOQ The University of Minnesota is seeking an Associate Director of Loans and Undergraduate Services within the Office of Student Finance. This is a unique opportunity to lead and develop a diverse team of financial aid professionals within a department that encompasses financial aid, student finance, registration, and student services. We seek a candidate who has demonstrated skills to work across units to resolve issues. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be passionate about making a positive difference in students’ lives and come into this position with prior experience in both management and a student finance role. This position will be responsible for managing, planning, and implementing programs and policies for the administration of financial aid for the University system-wide. Manage ongoing operations of the Office of Student Finance Loans and Undergraduate Services unit: - Lead, develop, and direct the business processes for areas of responsibility to meet timeline and compliance requirements.
- Keep abreast of changes in federal, state, and institutional guidelines, regulations, and aid policies related to areas of responsibility and be able to incorporate those requirements into business practices.
- Establish strong working relationships with partners within and across the University of Minnesota system.
- Serve as primary expert on financial aid administration for the University of Minnesota system.
Lead annual financial aid planning and business operations implementation: - Partner with the Director of the Office of Student Finance in setting objectives, determining strategies, forecasting outcomes, and developing procedures to assure accurate, timely, and effective processing of student financial aid.
- Collaborate within and across the University of Minnesota system on issues and communications related to prospective students.
- Analyze and execute changes in guidelines, laws, and regulations in relation to business processes to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations in the delivery of aid.
Manage and supervise the Loans and Undergraduate Services Unit: - Provide leadership and supervision for 21 staff in the Loan and Undergraduate Services unit.
- Manage the processes and activities of the team to include determining workload, distribution of work, and adjustments needed to meet service delivery standards.
- Identify and implement performance standards and expectations for staff.
- Build and develop an effective team; seek, evaluate, and implement staff input; train and instruct staff thoroughly; and support and promote staff development.
Serve as an expert resource for staff, students, parents, and system campuses on issues related to areas of responsibility: - Provide policy and procedure interpretation and guidance for staff, students, and parents.
- Advise OSF, One Stop, and other departmental/collegiate staff on appropriate ways to resolve questions, complex situations, and errors.
- Develop and document policies and procedures that ensure compliance with federal, state, and University financial aid policies.
- Research and provide supporting documentation to resolve unusual situations and questions.
