Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Finance and Budget Management, the Finance Coordinator provides analysis and support for the Finance department. The Coordinator plays a key role with finance accounting and reporting, collaborating with all members of the Finance Department by compiling and analyzing key financial information for the School. The Coordinator is an integral part of the monthly, quarterly, and annual process to ensure that financial information has been recorded accurately. The Coordinator will assist in identifying trends and developments when reviewing financial information and will present findings to senior management.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing, adjusting and managing the school's long-term forecast and model; designs and develops ad hoc financial analysis to support program and department goals and objectives; assists the Finance Team with the execution of accurate and on-time month-, quarter-, and year-end closing of the School's budget in-line with the University and Arts & Science ('A&S') policies and procedures as it relates to finance operations; supports leadership in ad hoc, high priority initiatives as needed
• Assists in preparing budget templates for departments and programs in a timely manner to meet SPS, A&S and University annual budget deadlines; assists in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports including budget, time & effort, and expense detail reports for relevant SPS stakeholders; coordinates meetings with various stakeholders for budget submission reviews and year-end budget reviews; provides initial review of budget reports and submissions to check for accuracy and identify errors; assists with entering approved budgets into the University's financial system using the Budget Tool and making updates on a quarterly basis
• Assists with Level 1 review of entries in the University's payroll system, PAC, by checking against the budget and chart strings; assists with tracking full-time personnel changes and financial impacts
• Provides support to SPS stakeholders by assisting with basic financial inquiries; assists with creating presentation materials for staff budget trainings; assists the Finance Team in improving processes to increase efficiency and accuracy
• Performs billing processes to ensure accurate and timely billing including assisting with the School's tuition and fees process, scholarship processing and posting tuition deposits
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned or requested

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent related experience required
• 3 years related experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Math, Accounting, Engineering, or Financial discipline preferred
• Experience with Oracle/Peoplesoft or comparable financial systems preferred
• Experience working in nonprofit or higher education preferred

Other Requirements

• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs (particularly Excel)
