Director of Finance/ Controller

The Director of Finance/Controller is a key finance and operational business partner for the organization and is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

• Responsible for ensuring the monthly and quarterly close process is smooth and effective to produce timely and accurate financial statements, including reviewing and approving journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Responsible for the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results in accordance with GAAP.
• Oversees the day-to-day activities of the Accounting and Finance Operations teams including general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchasing, fixed assets, payroll, and financial/SEC reporting.
• Ensures effective internal controls and processes to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting, integrity of data, and safeguarding of assets; Assists in implementing and improving the Company’s internal control framework for SOX compliance.
• Oversees the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements and assists in analyzing financial results and explaining variances from budgets and forecasts.
• Manages all aspects of financial audits and serves as a key contact for external and internal auditors.
• Manages and complies with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings, including preparation of sales/use tax returns and property tax returns, payroll, and stock reporting forms, and coordinate with external tax accountants to prepare state and federal income tax returns.
• Researches and provides guidance for technical accounting issues to ensure compliance with GAAP.
• Oversees all aspects of Codiak’s stock option plan and participates in equity transactions, including valuations and financings.
• Oversees all accounting and finance systems; Evaluates current systems and provides recommendations for the appropriate timing and systems to scale with projected growth; Manage implementation of new systems and user trainings.
• Evaluates all corporate insurance needs, prepares annual renewals, and coordinates with broker.  Prepares audit materials when requested.
