Position Summary: Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a motivated Director of GME Finance for the Office of Clinical Affairs within Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences. The Director of GME Finance will be responsible for oversight of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences central budget of Graduate Medical Education (GME) for trainee activities, budgeting and financial reporting of the GME programs and coordinating other activities between the RBHS and clinical affiliates. This position services as the key institutional resource to address issues and concerns regarding GME finance topics from Rutgers Health Sponsoring Institution, RWJBarnabas Health system and affiliated training sites and GME leadership. The Director of GME Finance reports to the Vice Chancellor of GME (VCGME), has an indirect reporting relationship to the Senior Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration, RBHS, and deals daily with confidential and sensitive financial information. Among the key duties of this position are the following: - Oversee and coordinate closely with Affiliate GME office staff and RBHS Finance and Administration Office in the monthly billing from affiliated medical centers.
- Preparation of monthly unit spending reports for programs and quarterly financial reporting to the hospitals documenting budgeted to actual FTE utilization.
- Work with Affiliate GME staff to onboard new trainees and process promotions/changes of existing trainees.
- Coordinate administrative and other matters that involve financial policy issues.
Minimum Education and Experience: - Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field with at least seven (7) years, includes two (years) in management capacity in budget preparation, administration and control, preferably at a medical center or an institution of higher education.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Knowledge and expertise of Federal and State agency regulations, policies, procedures, and laws applicable to sponsored program activities.
- Ability to handle complex issues associated with developing and implementing new concepts and systems, outstanding human relations and leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment.
- Excellent writing, verbal and interpersonal communications skills.
- A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated knowledge is necessary on how to accomplish superior performance in a unionized environment.
Preferred Qualifications: - Masters' Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field with at least five (5) years related experience, or CPA.
- Lean or Continuous Process Improvement certification.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: - Must be able to lift or exert force up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
