SLATE (Strengthening Learning and Teaching Excellence) aims to ensure that Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) faculty match their scholarly distinction with outstanding teaching skills and a toolkit of excellent curricular materials, so that HKS students can learn effectively and make a difference in the world. SLATE offers a range of services to HKS faculty members, including coaching, design and development of a wide range of curricular materials (cases, simulations, etc.), and learning assessments. SLATE includes the long-standing case program at HKS. SLATE is seeking a Manager, Administration and Finance that will report into the Senior Director of SLATE.
Facilitates and manages operations of SLATE's core offerings which includes all aspects of the Case Program, pedagogical services (NFI, Teaching Week, etc.), and various projects undertaken by SLATE's digital team.
Manages SLATE's human resources functions including hiring and onboarding full-time employees, LHT's (less than half-time), and temps.
Procures IT hardware including computers, printers, and laptops, as well as program software.
Assists with negotiating contracts/agreements with outside vendors.
Serves as SLATE's financial manager including preparing the annual budget, approving and monitoring all expenses, tracking gifts and sponsored revenue, and providing reports to Associate Directors and Senior Director as needed.
Provides year-to-date spending reports to the Senior Director of SLATE on a monthly basis; revises the current budget; develops and submits the upcoming annual budget including the monthly and quarterly reporting.
Serves as the primary liaison with HKS Office of Office of Financial Services.
Effectively communicates and presents the critical financial matters to the Senior Director of SLATE.
Responsible for all aspects of website maintenance and when needed manages site redesign-projects, including supporting selection of vendors, branding, and content migration when applicable.
Support distribution of content on Case Program sites including videos, audio podcasts, articles, and interactive features, etc.
Ensures that SLATE websites (SLATE public site, Case Program sites, Knet, and Open Scholar project sites) adhere to Harvard accessibility guidelines.
Maintains and updates Case Program email distribution lists.
Analytics and Metrics
Works with Senior Director of SLATE (and other Associate Directors) to support strategies and plans for assessing the effectiveness of SLATE programs offered to faculty.
Supports analyzing complex data across SLATE, including conducting regular and ad hoc data reporting on usage of SLATE products, making recommendations to the Senior Director and Associate Directors; This will include collating, cleaning up, updating and maintaining multiple datasets.
Regularly update and track case distribution analytics and respond to ad hoc queries and request for sales and related reports.
Maintain and track web analytics for Case Program and other SLATE operations to inform internal and external communications strategy.
Track web and social analytics and use them to inform digital strategy.
This position is a fully benefits-eligible term appointment ending one year from date of hire, with possibility of renewal.

Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in finance or accounting required.
Any combination of the following is a bonus:
Bachelor's degree and experience in research administration or an academic department strongly preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Must be very detail oriented, extremely well organized, and able to deliver high quality work results while prioritizing multiple projects under time pressure.
Must be able to work independently and take initiative.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with Harvard financial systems (including sponsored research administration) preferred. Experience with web editing or familiarity with HTML/WordPress preferred. Optimistic/positive demeanor is highly desirable.
