Reporting to the Regional Chief Financial Officer, the Regional Director of Finance - Hospitals is responsible for the development and maintenance of financial transactions, including financial planning, control, accounting, and reporting policies and practices for three acute care hospitals in the Austin-Round Rock Region. This Regional Director analyzes complex financial information and provides management with reports regarding the institutions financial performance and the financial effect of business plans and strategies, including performing financial modeling, analysis and business plan development. Responsible for work assignments, hiring/firing, performance evaluations of assigned staff.
CONTRIBUTES TO THE EFFECTIVENESS AND ACCURACY OF ALL FINANCIAL FUNCTIONS RELATED TO THE FINANCE MANAGEMENT AND OPERATIONS. - Prepares reports and/or presents relevant data in a timely, accurate, and user-friendly format (sub-reports, charts, graphs, etc.) that is appropriate for the desired result. - Ensures that reporting requirements and financial reports are prepared in a timely manner. - Maintains reference material on a continuous basis and updates policies and procedures as required.
ENSURES COMPLETE, ACCURATE AND TIMELY COST REPORTING AND FINANCIAL REPORTING TO MAINTAIN RECORDS AND ENSURE COMPLIANCE WITH FEDERAL REQUIREMENT. - Produces accurate computer reports to support financial data used in preparing regulatory reporting. - Coordinates cost reporting and audit requirements with Reimbursement department. - Ensures maintenance of Medicare covered and non-covered benefit files. - Consistently demonstrates an ability to keep up work load, using support staff to assist as needed. - Prepares management reports and other financial reports, as required.
ACTS AS LIAISON FOR REGULATORY AND/OR AUDITORS TO ENSURE THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF PERIODIC AUDITS. - Coordinates year-end audit activities between Accounting and other departments. - Oversees preparation of lead schedules and PBCs to help facilitate auditors performance. - Maintains favorable working relationships between outside auditors and Finance Department.
DEVELOPS MANAGEMENT REPORTS AND RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COLLECTION OF STATISTICAL DATA NECESSARY TO PREPARE MANAGEMENT REPORTS. - Analyzes financial results and provides management with reports, as requested. - Strives to meet deadlines on special projects and studies, as assigned. - Collects necessary supporting statistical information to facilitate monthly journal entries. - Oversees the accurate and timely monthly journal entries for statistical data.
MANAGES AND DIRECTS STAFF TO CREATE AND MAINTAIN AN OPTIMAL WORK ENVIRONMENT. - Establishes a climate that reduces obstacles and slows and promotes staff to formulate and practice own initiatives and perform at maximum achievement level. - Identifies and provides opportunities for the staff to develop knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to contribute to the success of the department. - Trains and cross-trains personnel to increase productivity and improve area operations.
COORDINATES BUDGET PREPARATION AND PRESENTATION. MONITORS BUDGET TO MAINTAIN FINANCIAL VIABILITY. - Coordinates membership projects with marketing department. - Reviews departmental budgets with directors. - Provides consulting Actuary with information needed for premium and medical expense trends and other information as required. - Performs other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional, and courteous manner.
PREFERRED CANDIDATE PROFILE: - Masters Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Healthcare/Business Administration preferred - Experience with Hospital finance, including Physician Compensation and future financial modeling - General Hospital Operations knowledge - Multi-site responsibility - Experience leading teams
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelors Degree - preferably in Finance, Accounting, or Healthcare/Business Administration - 10 years of experience
