Strategic Finance Senior Consultant for Deloitte New-venture Accelerator Team
Deloitte New-venture Accelerator (DNA) has been established by Deloitte, LLP to drive the development and scaling of Hybrid businesses at Deloitte across the core Functions (business units) of Consulting, Advisory, Tax and Audit.Â Hybrids are solutions that combine Deloitteâs traditional services with IP-based products or content to create increased customer value.Â DNA is an internal accelerator that brings expertise in the creation, acquisition and growth acceleration of these businesses.Â DNA works alongside the Functions to identify and develop Hybrid opportunities and to develop people and process capabilities across the Functions and Enabling Areas to deliver against this strategy.
The Role/ Work Youâll Do
The Planning & Performance (P&P) team within DNA is seeking to hire a Senior Consultant role. The P&P team is the strategic and operational finance arm of DNA and leverages a deep understanding of hybrid economics and finance operating experience to:
Support Hybrid investment activity
Validate investment opportunities by developing business cases for organic technology-based investment opportunities
Provide financial analysis to support Corporate Developmentâs M&A process for Hybrid-related acquisitions
Advise investment owners on Hybrid economics, performance metrics and market benchmarks
Partner with DNAâs Commercial Insights team to develop and conduct external interviews with market participants in order to provide market validation for critical business case assumptions
Improve Hybrid business operations
Provide analysis and advice to Hybrid business owners to help improve business operations and drive incremental growth
Create financial tools for Hybrid businesses to implement as part of their ongoing operations (e.g., product pricing calculators, financial planning models)
Provide ad-hoc operational analysis and support to Hybrid businesses
Provide education on Hybrid finance topics
Conduct high-level and deep-dive training sessions to educate business partners on Hybrid financial topics
Develop Communities of Interest (COIs) around relevant Hybrid financial topics to share knowledge and best practices
Provide thought leadership and develop perspectives on how Deloitte should approach and evaluate Hybrid businesses
The Senior Consultant will work closely with the broader DNA team, other Firm-wide functions such as Innovation and Corporate Development, and business partners within Hybrid businesses across Deloitte. The role provides the opportunity to work in a group environment where the team is dedicated to helping the Senior Consultant sharpen their analytical and business skills, learn how to think about Hybrid and traditional services business models, and develop executable strategies for newly-formed as well as established businesses. The individual will be part of a small, high-impact team where team members work remotely the majority of the time and the role requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to solve complex strategic problems.
Skills / Capabilities:
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability that leverages structured, logical thinking (e.g., engineering mindset) applied in conjunction with a consultative mindset
Exceptional Excel skills with significant experience in building and vetting financial and operating models
Good finance knowledge and acumen (both operational and strategic finance experience is valued) with an understanding of financial statements, key financial ratios, and drivers of value
Strong PowerPoint skills, with the ability to independently storyboard and develop messaging for senior, firm-wide leadership
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, pride of ownership, and innate intellectual curiosity
Collaborative workstyle and able to effectively work remotely (with limited oversight) while handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable when working with ambiguity and in an unstructured environment to introduce new approaches and thought-leadership to projects
Prior experience in investment banking / management consulting / corporate development / internal strategy / corporate financial planning and analysis is strongly preferred
