Controller’s Financial Analysts will work closely with both financial and business line operating management to improve our processes and participate in business decisions. Many of our initial positions are located at our Houston Campus, refineries and chemical plants. You can expect to rotate through two to three assignments in the first four to five years allowing for a variety of experiences to build skills and knowledge. Early assignments provide exposure to global operations and a variety of businesses through activities such as:
Analysis of relationships between complex operations, related contracts and financial transactions
Accounting for complex financial transactions
Communicating and implementing changes in accounting standards
Utilizing and updating computing systems to accurately record financial transactions
Designing and evaluating controls
Improving financial and accounting processes
Providing financial support to operating and financial organizations
Coordination of a business unit's financial plan, operating forecast and/or capital budget
Conduct and lead audits of our business functions and external business partners
Treasurer’s is the corporate finance group within ExxonMobil and has a broad mandate to develop and implement financial policies for worldwide operations. New analysts typically begin at the Corporate Headquarters in Dallas and rotate through two or three different groups that support activities in affiliate finance, risk management, capital markets, cash management, investor relations, and benefit plan investments. Following the first few years, analysts usually move to Houston for assignments directly supporting the global business units by providing financial advice on a large number of projects and operations. Early assignments provide exposure to:
MBA or equivalent, with proficiency in relevant areas, such as financial analysis, accounting, data analytics, international business
Proven record of initiative, leadership and academic achievement
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Minimum two years of prior work experience preferred
MBA or equivalent
Interest in international finance, strategy and management
Academic achievement and demonstrated proficiency in quantitative and financial analysis
Ability to collaborate effectively with multi-national and cross-functional teams
Geographic flexibility (domestic and international)
Many undergraduate majors provide relevant experience when paired with an MBA - common ones include economics, engineering, finance, accounting, math and international relations
Minimum two years of prior work experience
