Manages the financial affairs of the organization and prepares financial analyses of operations, supporting schedules, for the guidance of Senior Management. The Director of Finance is responsible for the agency’s financial plans and policies, accounting practices, internal controls, the conduct of its relationships with funders, lending institutions and the financial community.
Responsible for monitoring and direct recording of company grants and funding.
Prepares and submits reports on agency financial operations for internal and external use including government and non government agencies and funders.
Responsible for monitoring, recording, and reporting of all local, state and federal finances for the agency.
Prepare Forecast Statements monthly and quarterly on all grants and contracts for agency.
Participate in the planning and implementation of compensation structures and benefit renewal contracts.
Process monthly bank reconciliations, transfers, deposits, etc.
Assure accounting audit procedures are in place.
Oversee cash receipts and cash disbursements.
Authorizes expenditures in accordance with agency budget; estimates, analyzes and updates financial projections and cash flow accordingly.
Assure all expenditures are approved by ED.
Prepares reports which summarize and forecast agency business activity and financial position in areas income, expenses and earnings based on past, present and expected operations.
Responsible for assuring protection for the assets of the business through internal control, internal auditing, and enduring proper insurance coverage.
Prepares monthly and year-end financial statements and supporting schedules for the agency annual fiscal audit.
Maintain Accounting and Fiscal Management Procedure Manual and update accordingly.
Provide fiscal reports to the ED and board finance committee monthly;
Support the activities related to the Board of Directors/Advisory Committee for agency fiscal requirements.
Lead and monitor Fundraising budget along with the Fundraising Accounting Software.
Organizes and maintains agency records, contracts, and correspondence.
Responsible for planning, directing, and implementing fiscal operational plans that directly relates to achievement of business goals for the fiscal department.
Works closely with senior management, communicating across all levels of the agency.
Work closely with department managers providing support with strategies for growth.
Maintains confidentiality and consistently personifies high ethical practices and integrity.
Serve as internal consultant to the ED, Directors, and other key stakeholders on all financial matters, making recommendations and suggesting pro-active strategies to keep the organization on track;
Provide oversight of all budgets, forecasts and internal financial plans and processes;
Support accounting, general ledger and operations functions, ensuring that systems are in place to guarantee timeliness and accuracy;
Drive best financial practices within the organization by publicizing standard operating procedures, keeping the senior leadership team, Board and staff up-to-date on the financial status and by generally serving as a point of reference for all growth plans and projects;
Explore and suggest how the organization can invest its reserves and resources to generate passive income;
Review short and long-term goals in light of existing and projected financial resources available;
Create data-based long and short term goals, budgets and forecasts;
Participate in all internal planning regarding proposed program expansion, to ensure alignment of program, outreach and training plans with financial projections;
Establish annual priorities and benchmarks and conduct regular reporting, measuring projections against actual performance;
Generate weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports as needed to monitor, evaluate and optimize cash- flow and liquidity;
Build relationships with banks, donors, vendors, outside consultants and others as needed
Utilize technology to optimize all reporting and analytical functions;
Ensure that the organization meets critical regulatory and legal compliance benchmarks;
Keep up with new trends in the financial industry by attending conferences, participating in professional development and sharing this information with the senior leadership team;
Build a top-tier internal finance team by actively recruiting, training and developing talented accountants, analysts, consultants, auditors, tax planners and payroll staff, as needed.
Lead budget process for all programs with management team
Performs other duties as assigned by ED.
Develop and manage agency’s overall financial plan for fiscal year.
