Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Directs and develops the OED budget and finances in close coordination with OED colleagues with primary oversight of the Office of the Dean for Education and Office of Educational Program (OEP) budgets
Monitors operational expenses and revenues, conducts financial analyses (including multi-year plans), manages financial closings, and provides sophisticated strategic counsel to the Dean for Education, including strategic use of unrestricted, gift, and endowed funds, and appropriate use of fund terms. May manage new grants as necessary
Responsible for the department's business relations and best practices, ensuring compliance with and understanding of federal and University financial and payroll policies, upholding tax guidelines, reimbursements requirements, as well as fund and gift management
Ensures that OED staff are trained in University policies and systems
Provides routine and responsive reporting to Dean for Education and other necessary OED contacts
Manages vendor agreements
Ensures timely and accurate accounts payable, receivable, vendor approval, and payrolls (weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly)
Human Resources and Operational Management:
Serves as department lead in designing and fostering a productive, effective and diverse team. This includes enacting recruitment, onboarding and training programs, serving as liaison with SPH Human Resources, and working with OED managers on performance management, payroll, benefits, and other related functions
With the Dean for Education, creates or adjusts positions to align with strategic goals and recommends and implements program reorganizations
Writes job descriptions, processes appointments, and oversees leaves, layoffs, and terminations and plays a significant role in diversity recruitment
Monitors department compensation and job grade equity and coordinates annual exempt salary increase program and performance management compliance and reporting
Manages space reallocations and office moves for staff as needed
Works closely with other offices to establish a smooth day-to-day operation for OED, including partnering with HSPH Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations, Office of Faculty Affairs, Payroll, Accounts Payable, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
Minimum of 7 years' relevant work experience
Supervisory experience strongly preferred
Human Resource/Performance Management experience such as hiring, onboarding, termination, and including cultivating the professional development and growth of others preferred
Experience with Harvard's financial, HR, and reporting systems (i.e., Oracle financial applications, including AP, HCOM and PCard; HUBS; People Soft; and Concur) is strongly preferred
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite with a focus on Excel preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills and interacts effectively with all levels of the University and with external organizations preferred
Warm, enthusiastic and approachable work style preferred
Strong analytical, problem solving, communication, and organizational skills preferred
