The Finance and Accounting Specialist will be responsible for contributing to the College’s Finance function by executing, analyzing, verifying and reporting transactions of a fiscal nature. The position is responsible for applying generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and procedures in their work assembling and analyzing data and transactions, preparing statements and reports, and entering financial transactions necessary to correct identified problems.
Primary duties and responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to the following:
Process/post journal entries
Reconcile capital and benefit accounts
Assist with processing reimbursement and payment requests for accounts payable as needed
Utilize the accounts payable module in Jenzabar to enter payment data and process check runs in the absence of the Manager of Accounts Payable
Working with the Manager of Accounts Payable, oversee procurement card program activities, including card issuance and closure, user setup and maintenance, spending limits and controls, and expense report validation.
Approve procurement card expense reports and assist with preparing and posting associated journal entries
Perform other institutional projects and duties as assigned
AA/AS degree required, BA/BS degree in accounting or business preferred
0-2 years of experience in a higher education or non-profit accounting setting
Ability to handle confidential information
Ability to work independently and set priorities in a fast-paced department
Strong technology skills (MS Office)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to exercise good judgement
