The Finance Division provides financial management, enterprise planning and stewardship in support of education, research, and strategic goals of the university. Our mission is to provide university partners with the tools and resources needed to be well-informed leaders and effective decision makers.
We are seeking a Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis to join the Budget and Financial Planning team within the division. This is an excellent opportunity if you thrive in an interesting and challenging work environment. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the university-wide financial planning process, financial analysis, and the Budget & Financial Planning staff/team. Reporting to, and working closely with the AVP for Budget & Financial Planning, you will lead the team in monitoring and analyzing financial and operating results, developing financial models and projections of future performance, and developing actionable insights to help the University understand key budget drivers, highlighting risks and opportunities that influence strategic decision making. The incumbent works across campus to collaborate, build credibility and trust, and connects the dots between strategy, operations, and other issues that are critical to financial success.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Leading the preparation of the University's annual budget and multi-year financial planning process, for operating, and capital budgets.
Developing financial analysis related to a variety of strategic initiatives, including but not limited to, analysis of metrics (e.g., net tuition, personnel costs, cash flow, reserve balances), university financial results, and overall University financial strength.
Building forecasting models that project revenue, expense and cash flow components for current year results and future year projections based on analysis of significant activity and trends.
Conducting in-depth research and analysis on financial, organizational, and budget issues and initiatives to provide senior leadership with information and recommendations, as required.
Supporting leadership in the preparation of reports to the Board of Trustees, Finance Committee, university leadership, and other partners.
Anticipating the need for information to support decision-making and evaluation of progress towards strategic priorities, ensuring accuracy of information and timeliness of deliverables.
Working collaboratively across the University to interpret and disseminate budgetary policies, procedures, and related information to the campus community. Providing training and other support to campus partners on university systems and practices.
Leading a team of professional analysts to include mentoring, coaching and growing staff professionally. Reviewing team member's performance during the annual performance review process and on an ongoing basis.
Evaluating and assisting in the formulation of budget policies, procedures, and guidelines.

You should demonstrate:
Proven record of accomplishment in developing operating, cash flow, and capital budgets.
Outstanding analytical skills that allow for interpretation of budgetary, financial, and related organizational performance or management information.
Expertise in quantitative financial and budgetary analyses, including the development of financial models used to forecast financial results under different scenarios.
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with partners at all levels of the organization.
Capability to manage and develop a team of financial analysts.
Advanced technical experience in the use of financial systems and software to compile and analyze financial data.
Forward-thinking knowledge of general accounting and budgeting principles and practices with an emphasis on university financial accounting and financial planning.
Excellent attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to manage or work on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business, finance or a closely related field. Master's Degree in Business Administration or comparable advanced degree preferred.
Minimum eight years of relevant and progressive experience in accounting, finance, budgeting, planning, and analysis. Experience in higher education and/or not-for-profit environment preferred. Previous supervisory experience highly desired.
Advanced proficiency with the MS Office Suite, especially MS Excel, Tableau and PowerPoint.
