DUTIES: The Department of Hospital Finance at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking at full-time TH STAFF ASSISTANT II. The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to: - Manage correspondence and inquiries from patients, providers, vendors, payors and staff. - Perform payment reconciliation and process payments. - Assist vendors with collection activities. - Follow up on denials to ensure timely reimbursement. - Review and process various charge capture tool for billing accuracy. - Retrieve billing data from other departments. - Communicate with payors when required. - Obtain all necessary demographic and data needed for billing. - Perform all other duties needed to facilitate physician billing and collections activates. (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION) QUALIFICATIONS: - Medical billing/coding certification or Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 3 years physician billing experience. - Knowledge of physician billing, collections, reimbursement, payor requirement, Microsoft office, eMedNY, Eagle and MIPS. - Excellent communication and customer service skills. - Ability to work in a fast paces environment. - Preferred: Experience in hospital based physician billing.
