THIS IS NOT AN H1- B OPPORTUNITY ResponsibilitiesThe Research Finance Analyst 3 is responsible for the management, structure and use of all assigned funds and accounts. Account management includes analyzing expenditures charged to the accounts ensuring consistency with federal, state, university-wide, UC Davis, and sponsoring agency policies, terms and conditions, following generally accepted accounting principles. Financial analysis and financial reporting is also required on assigned accounts. Accounts include extramural, clinical trials, university-sponsored, interdepartmental, gifts, endowments, other sponsored activity, awards, operating accounts and reserve accounts. The analyst is also responsible for the effort reporting of assigned faculty and staff and for analysis, implementation, and identification of cost sharing on extramural research. Required Qualifications
Experience working with generally accepted accounting principles; knowledge of University fund accounting preferred
Account management
Budget, forecasting, and expense analysis
Experience interpreting guidelines and policies
Experience developing and reviewing complicated, multi-year, multi-funded projects budget in accordance with sponsor guidelines
Experience developing estimates and assumptions to support the budget
Experience reviewing and analyzing budget variances from actual expenditures and to forecast
Experience utilizing financial information systems at a high level
Excellent computer skills with the ability to create and format spreadsheets and databases using relative cell references and pivot tables for presentation
Ability to work efficiently and effectively under stress and with many interruptions, and with conflicting deadlines
Successful, strong, and effective communication skills with the ability to demonstrate follow up while being tactful
