The Team: This role is a key member of the Platts Finance Business Partnering team supporting the Commodity Pricing and Market Insights groups and will partner with the Leads of Platts Content. The position will support the Commodity Pricing and Market Insights groups by assisting with financial & operational reporting, forecasting, and analysis.
The Impact: Primary focus will be on headcount reporting, business case development, project budget tracking, forecasting and general financial management of the functions. This position will also assist with ad hoc requests and special projects across all commodity groups to support the decision making process.
Responsibilities: Participate in the ongoing strategic planning process as an integral member of the Commodity Pricing and Market Insights team
Forecast and manage headcount and compensation expenses
Manage all executive presentation materials for group
Assist in the preparation of the multi-year budgets and related sensitivity modeling
Manage financial planning and analysis and accounting
Partner with management team to prepare business cases for new products and enhancements
Provide ongoing financial planning and analysis support to the Commodity Pricing and Market Insights team
Manage financial and operating metric tracking for key initiatives
Identify and track risks/opportunities on an ongoing basis
Assist with ad hoc requests, special projects for Platts senior finance leadership
Support overall business unit reporting requirements
Maintain existing group reports and assist with new development
Provides data, analysis, and operational insights for monthly business operations reviews.
Alert management to operational problems and suggest actionable solutions
What We're Looking For: Characteristics important to this position: initiative, independent judgment, strong communication and presentation skills, teamwork, and ability to understand complex business concepts.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance. MBA Preferred
6-8 years' accounting and financial analysis experience.
Strong skills in MS Excel (Pivot tables, V-Lookups, Modeling) and PowerPoint.
Experience with ERP (Oracle Financials), Cognos TM1, Anaplan preferred.
Solid analytical skills and strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as a fully contributing member of a team.
Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
Knowledge of capital expense planning and accounting a plus
