Director - Finance - Finance Administration - Orlando
AdventHealth Orlando seeks to hire a Director - Finance who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.
Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,368-bed AdventHealth Orlando, serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America. AdventHealth Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country. We are already one of the busiest hospitals in the nation, providing service excellence to more than 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients each year.

The Finance Director assists in the development and implementation of the campus strategic plan. They bring focus to financial performance improvement processes by creating a culture of accountability and management by fact. They influence change, clarify ambiguity, mobilize teams for meaningful action, and create performance expectations and mindset. The Director interacts with hospital administration and department directors to provide relevant, accurate, and timely information. The individual brings focus to financial performance improvement processes by identifying opportunities within the organization including revenue, cost, efficiency and productivity. The individual must actively participate in outstanding customer service and accept responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Skill set to compile and analyze financial information on trended data for financial decision making, organize and present the analysis and recommendations to management in a written format or oral format.
Ability to coordinate the development, implementation and deployment of strategic information to assist the organization's overall performance.
Ability to work in a project-oriented environment that is fast paced with individuals across the organization
Effective computer skills, particularly Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
Working knowledge of healthcare accounting methods and reporting, standards development, costing methodologies, utilization measurements, and financial modeling.
Strong interpersonal and managerial skills; self-motivated; effective time management, prioritization, and decision-making skills; able to follow-up and bring closure to issues
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to form relationships with various levels of hospital team members; able to create an environment for proactive dialogue, collaboration, and accountability
Ability to problem solve and critically think through situations to provide useful and actionable analysis
Knowledge of database networks and other financial resources/software (Preferred)
Understanding of revenue, expense, budgeting, capital and cost management cycles (Preferred)
Proven inter-personal skills for small and large group settings (Preferred)
Aspiration to professional quality of workmanship (Preferred)
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting
Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting (Preferred)
Three years of applicable healthcare financial management experience, including operational involvement and/or project management
Five years of relevant Finance experience
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (Preferred)
Certified Management Accountant (CMA) (Preferred)
Certified Financial Planner (CFP) with CPA (Preferred)

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Communicates financial results to the campus leadership team
Collaborates with campus leadership to identify opportunities to improve financial performance
Support campus teams in achieving financial improvements
Assist in the preparation of capital and operating budgets
Support the financial analysis and proformas associated with strategic considerations
OPERATING & CAPITAL BUDGET/FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Actively involved in the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets for the facility
Be involved in leading functional budget efforts across the system
Support annual capital budgeting and tracking
Review month-end reports before and after close
Monitor and minimize late charge activity
Understand and monitor charge capture process
Collaborate with Financial Planning and Accounting on Financial reporting, interpretation and analysis
Present monthly financials to campus leadership
Attends campus finance team meetings and campus meetings
Coordinate CCA reports with Financial Planning
Support and actively participate in annual inventory counts for various departments
Coordinate the approval of capital projects
STRATEGIC PLANNING RESPONSIBILITY:
Support campus business planning process and implementation of action initiatives
Drive annual budget preparation, planning and implementation
Identify and support operational improvement through analysis and measurement
Facilitate proforma development
PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT RESPONSIBILITY:
Monitor and review daily volume, revenue and staffing trends to identify areas of concern
Review monthly budgets with Directors and provide written analysis and plans for Administrators Review and interpret departmental and service line profitability
Assist in maintaining campus specific cost savings strategies
Facilitate inter-campus and external benchmarking
Work with campus/departmental administration on EBDIT improvement plans
Support Revenue Management improvement initiatives
COMMUNITY RELATIONS RESPONSIBILITY:
Participate in community service activities and community relations events as requested by the campus leadership teams
Support creation of shift specific staffing control and monitoring processes
Assist departments with understanding their labor standards and identifying areas of opportunity to be more efficient and staff appropriately
Ensure proper Financial Methodology, standards and principles are applied to all financial models, reports and analysis for consistency and validity
Ensure that financial processes and employee's involved in those processes handle patient data in a HIPAA compliant manner
Understand significant campus related contracts
