The purpose of the Director, Finance is to perform a variety of duties focused on the financial functions of Cure SMA, with the ability to think strategically and plan for the long-term success and stability of the organization. The Director, Finance continually evaluates best industry practices for internal systems and needed resources, with an eye toward future growth needs, risk management, and budget realities. Develops and administers policies, procedures, and systems to control and coordinate financial matters including accounting, auditing, budgets, and related activities and records; prepares financial statements, forecasts, and analyses. Informs and advises management regarding financial matters pertaining to their respective areas of responsibility. Supervises the staffing, scheduling, training, and professional development of Finance department staff. Acts a leader at the organization and is a role model for others.

Ensures timely and accurate preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports and metrics, for the purpose of management and oversight by the Vice President of Finance & Operations and President.
Assists in interpreting financial data, and attends meetings of the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors, as required
Manages the budget for all programs, reviews operating costs, and suggests cost saving measures in conjunction with Vice President, Finance & Operations, the President, and other management staff; assists with preparing a budget for review and approval by the Board of Directors
Lead the annual audit, and lead in the preparation of tax schedules
Provides fiscal analyses and reports for the purpose of contract monitoring, forecasting, and cash flow management
Supervises all internal accounting and administrative staff, and has primary responsibility for all external operational vendors and professional service providers
Develops and maintains all internal controls and policies
Assists in the preparation of the Annual Report
Manages and develops Finance staff, including identifying individual and team performance goals, measuring performance, providing feedback, and conducting performance reviews
Recruits and cultivates Finance staff and volunteer support as needed
Participates in required educational programs and meetings
Performs other responsibilities as assigned by Vice President, Finance & Operations
This position will be a key part of Finance & Operations, and requires excellent problem-solving skills, perseverance, and comfort with change. Problems encountered will be varied, complex, and cross-departmental in nature.
Position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, listening, speaking, and use of a keyboard. Use of office equipment including computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, and fax machines. Travel to Cure SMA’s Annual Conference and to Board meetings, if needed. Some other travel may be required as necessary.

Bachelor’s degree required in accounting, finance, administration, or related field; Master’s degree in related field or CPA preferred
At least 5 years relevant experience; At least 3 years in a supervisory position building, managing, and coaching a team; Experience working with non-profit operations preferred.
Demonstrated ability to provide written analysis and overview of organizations’ financial condition
Experience managing budgets
Experience with short and long term financial planning
Outstanding attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively and independently
Excellent interpersonal skills
Superior judgement and outstanding business ethics required
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong working knowledge of MS Office, especially MS Excel
Working knowledge of Sage accounting software preferred
Well-developed leadership skills and willingness to participate in leadership training
