ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF FINANCE, Traditional Undergraduate School & College of Graduate, Online & Adult Learning (CGOAL); Program Director of MBA; Program Manager of Business Management, CGOAL
Summary: Provide curricular development, administrative, and instructional leadership for Finance in the traditional undergraduate school and for Finance, MBA, and BSM in CGOAL.
Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
COMMUNICATION, MEETINGS, & PROCEDURES
Serve as a communication liaison/representative for CGOAL with the traditional academic department.
Attend meetings and events including but not limited to the following: Adult & Continuing Education (ACE) Committee, Admissions Information Night, New Student Orientation, School of Business Faculty Meetings or Department meetings, all faculty meetings, and Graduate Student Symposium.
Assist in the coordination of student internships and directed studies as needed with the Adult & Graduate Studies Office.
Maintain strong collaborative ties with Admissions and Enrollment Marketing and assist in the recruitment of new students.
Engage in retention efforts and communicate with program students on a regular basis for encouragement, understanding, support, and precluding/resolving conflict, etc.
CURRICULUM, PROGRAMS, & ASSESSMENT
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Finance or related fields from among such areas as introductory finance, investments, money and banking, personal finance, and possibly other related areas.
Teach other courses in the School of Business and CGOAL and commensurate with departmental needs and individual expertise, including graduate courses.
Review course equivalency, transfer credit, and CTA syllabi requests as needed.
Provide leadership and oversight for the MBA and BSM programs including future concentrations in the MBA.
Assign faculty to course revisions and writing new curriculum, in keeping with CGOAL approval procedures.
Facilitate minor revisions based upon new textbook editions, student feedback, or program enhancement in collaboration with the Online Learning Office.
Collaborate with the Online Learning Office regarding course development including but not limited to the following: launch meetings, checkpoint meetings, course reviews, and open textbook adoptions.
Complete the annual and/or 5-year program assessment report in a timely manner.
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Finance in both traditional and on-line venues.
Teach other courses within CGOAL commensurate with departmental needs and individual expertise.
Responsibilities for teaching include, but are not limited to, interact with students via discussion forums, classroom presence, etc.; help students succeed in their courses; respond to student questions and concerns quickly; advise; and grade student assignments in a timely manner.
HIRING, OVERSIGHT, & DEVELOPMENT
Assist in the recruitment of new appropriately credentialed faculty.
Participate in the hiring process in collaboration with the Dean of GOAL.
Assign appropriately credentialed faculty to teach courses ensuring they remain within credit load limits.
Mentor, train, and monitor new faculty, which includes conducting a formal observation during the first semester of teaching.
Conduct a formal observation for regularly scheduled faculty once every two academic years.
Regularly communicate with all program faculty to ensure familiarity and adherence with CGOAL policies and procedures, high quality instruction in the classroom, support of students, etc.
Assist with the management and resolution of issues that may arise between students and faculty.
Monitor end-of-course evaluations and follow up with faculty if problems arise; escalate to the Dean of GOAL as needed.
Support and encourage the professional development of program area faculty.
Engage in scholarly pursuits for graduate-level faculty as appropriate.
Abide by all University policies.

Minimum Education and Experience:
DBA or Ph.D. in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration with significant professional experience required
Minimum of three years of successful business experience in finance
Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in higher education preferred
Experience and participation in one or more professional organizations preferred
Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintain a kind, Christ-like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Northwestern; and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, doctrinal statement, and Declaration of Christian Community.

Ability to type 30 wpm and to efficiently and accurately use the computer to carry out job responsibilities
Ability to effectively integrate technology in the teaching of finance and business
Commitment to excellence in teaching and academic advising of undergraduate students
Commitment to the growth and development of School of Business and the CGOAL business programs
Commitment to collaborating with other School of Business and CGOAL faculty in providing instructional excellence for students
Understanding of and agreement with Northwestern’s Declaration of Christian Community and Doctrinal Statement is essential
Ability to pass a background check upon hire and periodically throughout the course of employment
