Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Iowa State University's Vice President for Research (VPR), is seeking a Finance Manager (Accountant II) who will be responsible for management of finances within Laboratory Animal Resources (LAR) and VPR Central Administration.
Responsibilities include managing the accounting functions, providing forecasting and developing a variety of scenarios for maximum growth, overseeing departmental budgeting, and interpretation and implementation of university accounting policies for LAR. The position also provides strategic and transactional support for the VPR. The Finance Manager collaborates with the Controller's Department, Purchasing Department, Accounts Receivable Office, Payroll Office, Treasurer's Office, and Office of University Counsel at Iowa State University.
The successful candidate will possess strong computer skills including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing and billing/inventory management software; excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; excellent organizational and time management skills; and the ability to work well with others as a team member and as a provider of customer service. This position will lead a variety of projects for increased efficiencies for the business operations.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Experience managing the accounts of a complex and diverse organization. - Experience which demonstrates an understanding of ISU billing and funds management system. - Experience with budget planning and management as part of a complex organization. - Experience with Cost Accounting. - Experience using commercial inventory management and billing software.
