Lane Electric Cooperative (LEC) is seeking a competent and enthusiastic candidate to assume the senior management position of Manager, Finance & Administration. LEC (www.LaneElectric.com) is a stable and progressive organization serving 13,000 electric consumer/members located in western Oregon. The utility currently employs 48 professionals and has a geographically diverse service area covering 2,600 square miles of Lane County. LEC is financially sound with annual revenue of $25.9 million. The Cooperative is a CFC borrower. The Cooperative receives most of its wholesale power from the Bonneville Power Administration and is a member of the Pacific Northwest Generating Cooperative (i.e., G&T).
The Manager, Finance & Administration, serves as the CFO and is part of a five-member senior management team that reports directly to the General Manager. This position provides long-term direction for the financial operations of LEC, manages the Board's fiscal policies, and assists in the development of new policies. Duties also include regular reports to LEC’s seven-member board of directors. The position oversees and manages the Accounting Department, Data Management, and Member Service; each area has a supervisor that reports directly to the Manager F&A.
The successful candidate will be a person of very high integrity and have proven leadership skills. The individual must be a team player, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and meet deadlines. They must have a thorough knowledge of GAAP, budgeting/forecasting, internal controls, cash management and financial techniques, local, state and federal laws/regulations impacting the utility business, and financial accounting software. A good working knowledge of RUS accounting procedures is required within a reasonable amount of time. Candidates must have a minimum of ten (10) years' progressive experience in accounting, finance, fiscal services, or other utility related financial position. Experience in the accounting of an electric utility, especially one that adheres to CFC and/or RUS regulations, is required. Must have at least five (5) years' supervisory experience in managing accounting staff and leading an organization's accounting function. Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance and/or accounting. An advanced degree and/or professional certification (e.g., MBA, CPA, CIA, CMA) is highly preferred. It is desirable that candidates have an interest in advancement within LEC and considered in LEC’s succession planning.
LEC headquarters is located in Eugene at the southern end of the Willamette Valley. Portland is 100 miles north via Interstate 5. Pacific Coast beaches are an hour’s drive to the west, and the crest of the Cascade Mountains are a similar distance to the east. Both the Willamette and McKenzie rivers flow through the Eugene/Springfield area.
