The College of Public Health (CoPH) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center invites applications for an Assistant Dean of Finance. The CoPH is seeking an individual to provide leadership and management of all aspects of College of Public Health finance and serve as an expert to develop new business models and opportunities for academic health institutions. This position is responsible for the strategic formulation of the annual budget and responsible for fiscal reporting to accrediting bodies and university leadership. This position will support the Dean in directing and managing critical priorities and activities that advance the college. This position will be responsible for the financial stewardship of the College and as such works closely across campus with the Vice Chancellor for Business & Finance, finance leads in other Colleges, University Foundation and other UNS campuses. This position will work with contracts and budgets from/with partners from around the world.
The CoPH is fully accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). Our mission is to promote optimal health and well-being through robust education, research, and service in collaboration with communities in Nebraska, across the country, and around the world. The CoPH has a $28m operating budget and employs approximately 70 faculty, 60 staff and 80 students. The College has an enrollment of approximately 220 master’s and doctoral level students and provides both in-person and online courses.
Qualifications: Required qualifications include: Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or other relevant degree. A minimum of ten years of relevant managerial and administrative experience in budgeting and accounting in a University environment.
Candidate must have demonstrated experience in budget management and oversight of financial operations, including financial reporting. Ability to think strategically, including the analytical acumen necessary to interpret financial information and manage data. Knowledge of and experience with the University of Nebraska Medical Center and University of Nebraska Foundation policies, procedures, administrative systems, and databases, as well as, state and federal laws. Experience in academic settings is preferred.
