Reporting to the CUSP Director, the Associate Director for Administration and Finance is a key member of the leadership team with responsibility for establishing the administrative infrastructure to support CUSP's research and education operations and directs the daily operation of a multi-faceted academic, research and teaching department within a school or college. The Associate Director is responsible for CUSP's human resources (academic, professional and administrative staff), budget, financial management, purchasing, physical plant, and compliance with rules related to government-funded research programs and directs the management of general appropriation, endowment, federal and non-federal grants and contracts and gift funds. The Associate Director identifies short and long-term goals and oversees the allocation of resource to meet priorities, controls all expenditures and statement of accounts to ensure regulatory compliance and fiscal integrity and directs special projects which may include space renovations, space allocations, staffing, equipment purchases and long-range plans, leasing of off-campus space and services. The Associate Director also represents CUSP in its interactions with the university's Office of Academic Appointment and the Office of General Counsel. The Associate Director has direct responsibility for building out CUSP's operations and that those operations are conducted in compliance with the university's policies and rules of compliance and those of CUSP's domestic and international academic partners, as appropriate. The Associate Director also has supervisory responsibility for CUSP's finance and business support personnel, and partners with Human Resources to negotiate and implement all human resources actions regarding hiring, terminations, salary, and disciplinary actions.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, and Human Resources or related field.
Preferred Education: Advanced degree at the Master's level or above
Required Experience: 10+ years relevant professional experience in at least the following areas of responsibility: human resources, budget formulation, financial management or research compliance.
Preferred Experience: Prior experience in a leadership role in an academic or similar institution.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Strong strategic and project management skills, strong people management skills, and strong writing skills. Excellent editing, public speaking, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills are a must. Successful candidates must demonstrate an ability to work independently and direct the work of others.
