Essential Functions: JOB PURPOSEManage the annual operating budget and contract budget in the Perinatology Research Branch (PRB). Monitor accounts, programs and projects and provide recommendations. Approve expenditures for all units and evaluate current operations in order to identify and implement improved procedures, policy and strategies.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSOversee the fiscal activities and finances of the Perinatology Research Branch (PRB). Plan, develop and administer the annual operating budget; monitor the financial status of accounts, programs and projects; approve expenditures for all units and evaluate current operations in order to identify and implement improved procedures, policy and strategies Direct unit financial reporting and activities to ensure current and accurate information is provided in accordance with established requirements and regulations and coordinate operations to assure compliance in a timely and accurate manner.Serve as resource to School/College/Division units as well as liaison to other University units and outside organizations. Attend committee meetings; provide information and respond to inquiries concerning day-to-day operations; interpret policy and procedure and resolve related disputes and maintain professional relationships required to remain current with trends and developments in Accounting, Finance and related fields.Conduct and provide analysis, studies, reports and make presentations and recommendations required to improveefficiencies and optimize the use of resources. Enhance financial reporting and monitoring systems; identify needs of internal and external customers; interpret, explain and revise findings as required to ensure pertinent issues and concerns are addressed.Oversee financial and business operations of consortia and professional organizations; serve on internal and external ad hoc committees and, on an interim basis, manage the fiscal operations of an operational unit.Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: EDUCATIONBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience Master's Degree preferred.EXPERIENCEExperience in a higher-level financial reporting/accounting/finance position, preferably in an academic setting. Knowledge of accounting or finance practices or principles. Experience with University organizations, practices, programs and computing systems.
