Position: Cobol/SAS Developer - Legacy Finance Systems
The Developer position is part of our Legacy Finance Development and Support Team. The Team supports various mainframe applications related to Financials, Invoicing and Costing. The main purpose of this developer would be to support and enhance existing COBOL, SAS or DCL code as assigned and managed by the Legacy Finance Support team; communicate with and support Accounting personnel through daily, weekly and month end processes by trouble-shooting issues, running mainframe jobs on request and answering questions related to scheduled job process activity. Additional duties would include off-business hour support of month end processes as needed, and user consultation and requirements gathering for requested enhancements.
Experience in and understanding of general Financial business processes and procedures.
Writes, speaks, and presents clearly and succinctly across a variety of communication settings and adjusts communication style to the audience by translating and articulating technical concepts to non-technical groups.
Communicates well with non-technical business users.
Experience in and understanding of SAS report writer software.
Experience in and understanding of IBM mainframe operating system functionality and the ability to navigate in this environment.
The ability to read and understand SAS, COBOL, DCL or similar application code in order to support and enhance.
Five plus (5+) years of systems analysis, programming or other IT experience.
At least three (3) years of in depth knowledge coding in COBOL.
At least three (3) years of in depth knowledge coding in SAS.
At least three (3) years of experience supporting Finance business areas.
At least two (2) years of experience with software development lifecycle.
Good understanding and experience working within a mainframe development environment.
Experience working and adapting in an Agile environment.
Two plus (2+) years designing/developing within any 3rd Party Financial Software Application.
Experience and understanding working within a Linux/AIX development environment.
Develop, Enhance and Support various Financial applications and reports.
Adapt a clear understanding of current business process and help incorporate IT solutions accordingly.
Communicate support issues and resolution directly with the business and keep team lead and management aware of all business impacts.
Responsible for translating high-level business requirements into detailed functional specifications and managing requests for changes to the systems specifications.
Extensive Data Research, development in assigned technology, help determine business requirements, propose changes, develop migration and implementation plans, and may execute projects based on these activities.
Communicates design, functional, and technical specifications to development team lead.
Works with the development team lead to set priorities and to plan activity.
Provides solution planning and estimating of programs and projects as requested and discussed with the team lead or management.
Complete tasks, reporting status and work assignments in a timely fashion.
