The Financial Specialist II is to facilitate continuousimprovement within campus business units by means of analysis, evaluation,creation and facilitation of financial processes and models. The analyst willwork directly with campus process owners to gain an understanding of work flowfor the purpose of enhancing and developing optimized business processes. Theywill perform the role of an external consultant in order to help departmentsdevelop new strategies for enhancement. As the optimization of the process isdeveloped, the analyst creates organizational models, evaluates processes,creates estimations and identifies business practices to create productivity.In addition to documenting the models, the analyst will facilitate theimplementation of the new processes and strategies with relevant departmentalstaff. This position will facilitate the Shared Services Organization's chargefor continuous improvement as it relates to efficiency and effectiveness.
Analyze & Assess:
Perform business process analysis. Evaluate financial feasibility of process and impact of budget items,investment alternatives, capital or operating programs Provide support for data collection. Analyze variances and identify trends and opportunities to lower or controlcosts. Evaluate effectiveness of internal control framework within the process. Assess impact of process within organizational structure.
Internal controls, coordinate financial control and process documentation. Create process plans, goals and milestones . Identify resources necessary for processredesign. Estimate efficiencies and associated financial considerations of managementchoices.
Document and design financial data flow and input/output requirements. Prepare technical financial reports and forecasts on cash receipts, operatingplans, expenditures and human capital. Gather financial data in order to prepare recommendations. Develop educational and training materials related to internal controlsframework. Communicates:
Act as a liaison between management and staff to coordinate optimizationactivities. Communicate with personnel at all levels of the organization in order tocollect information and evaluate performance measures.
Work with management of related units within project scope to implement newprocesses and strategies
Ability to evaluate process qualities
Skilled in enhancing and developing optimizedprocesses
Ability to interpret varying descriptions offinancial processes and translate into common language Knowledge of internalcontrols standards and guidance
