Rutgers,The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Associate Dean for Finance and Administration for Mason Gross School of the Arts. This position serves as the principal operations officer of the school. Reporting directly to the Dean, the Associate Dean has broad responsibilities, ranging from advising the Dean on policy and personnel to insuring the smooth management of the school’s programs. In the absence of the Dean, the Associate Dean serves in his place and represents the school at official functions.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Responsible for creating and implementing strategic initiatives at the school-wide level.
Advises the Dean and all School employees on legal, union, and contractual matters and takes appropriate action.
Develops and implements health & safety and risk management strategies and protocols for the School and taking appropriate action.
Oversees hiring and terminating all part-time faculty appointments and ensures that budgets and unit plans align with strategic plans.
Guides all faculty through the reappointment and promotion process; developing and overseeing all non-tenure track faculty appointments, reviews and promotion practices; and overseeing other strategic initiatives for the School.
Oversees the School’s three divisions, Extension Division, Rutgers Arts Online, and the Filmmaking Program.
Serves as the liaison to Chancellor’s Office, Office of General Counsel, Academic Labor Relations, Human Resources, University Budget Office, Office of the VP for Finance and Administration, Audit, Risk Management, Office of Environmental Health and Safety, as well as other academic and administrative units.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business and/or arts administration or related field.
Also requires a minimum of 5 years experience in a leadership position (preferably in a University or nonprofit setting).

Excellent organizational, communication, and management skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build professional relationships
Preference for advanced degree in business or arts administration
