This is an exciting opportunity to join Maryland's fastest growing campus and Baltimore's largest university, Towson University.
The Associate Vice President of Administration and Finance will serve as the second in charge to the VP & CFO. Provide leadership and oversight to the University Budget Office, University Accounting and Finance departments. This includes: preparation, development, submission, analysis, and monitoring the University's budget; overseeing the university's accounting practices to ensure financial activities are consistent with general accounting principles, government regulations, and TU policies/procedures; monitor and provides guidance related to University business and finances, including related technology.
Prepare and submit the University’s annual external budget request including estimates of revenue and expenditures, coordinate BOR data, tuition and fee models and cost of education models. Collaborate with USM, Office of Budget Analysis and DBM as well as University departments. Continuous evaluation and review of the University’s financial status including supervising and/or preparing a complex budget analysis. Provide analytical support in framing the internal operating budget. Advise CFO on the financial health of the University. Provide leadership to and oversee the University Comptroller and University Accounting departments. Provide leadership and guidance on overall University business and finance, including related technology. Support the VP/CFO and serve as an important resource to the office to include acting VP role in the Vice President’s absence.
Bachelor's degree and 7 or more years of combined finance and budget experience
Prior management or supervision of financial functions and budgeting
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to multi-task, able to work both independently and collaboratively
Knowledge of GAAP/GASB/FASB and State of Maryland accounting practices
Financial forecasting experience
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Experience making high-level decisions
Proficient with Microsoft Office and reporting tools
Experience working with PeopleSoft/Oracle financial systems
Prior experience working in higher education finance
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
