Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Director of Finance (DoF) will have primary day-to-day responsibility of planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the organization. This will include direct oversight of accounting, finance, budgeting and forecasting, payroll and benefits administration.
Responsibilities and Functions:
This candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Department management and staff supervision
Overall control of all accounting procedures for headquarters and regional offices
General Ledger recording and maintenance
Preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Monthly financial reporting and analysis to the Finance and Executive committees
Preparation and monitoring of budget and strategic plans
Oversight of accounts receivable and accounts payable
Overall control of bank and investment accounts
Liaison with financial auditors
Filing of all necessary returns and reports with Federal, State and local government and regulatory agencies
Maintenance of employee records, payroll and benefits administration
Staff liaison with finance committee, investment committee, and audit committee
Preparation of presentation and documentation for National Board of Directors meetings
Ongoing education regarding new regulations affecting organization and implementation of procedures to conform to these regulations
Oversight of all corporate insurance
Overall control and supervision of accounting software

Candidates must have a background in Accounting with 8+ years’ experience in the finance field. Strong understanding of finance and accounting theory with:
CPA, MBA, or CGMA required; BBA Grad ok
Proven supervisory experience
Proven ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of internal and external peers
Must be detail oriented with strong database skills
Experience in non-profit work is preferred
Ability to meet assigned deadlines while managing multiple priorities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from COO
Work authorization required
