The Senior Finance Associate’s basic function is to support the daily operation of LCN’s Finance Department, including: contract management, monthly close processing; general ledger management; account reconciliation; preparation for the annual audit; file management; and special projects. Other duties may be assigned to support the overall operation of the Finance Department and to facilitate segregation of duties and internal control.
This is a full-time position with hours Monday to Friday, between 9 am to 6 pm, with occasional evening or weekend hours.
Manage agency grants and contracts effectively
Develop contract budgets and budget revisions for all contracts
Prepares DFSS, Hudd and IDHS vouchers for all contracts.
Upload vouchers to I supplier at least monthly
Track and monitor YTD spending and budget verse actual for all grants and contracts
Prepare contract utilization reports monthly for the Director of Finance and program managers
Collectively with the Director of Finance, meet with program managers monthly to discuss spending and utilization
Maintains grants/contracts reporting calendar
Enter all contract and grant revenue into fund EZ accurately
Ensure personnel and non-personnel expenses are being allocated to contracts according to approved cost allocation plan
Generate funder reports
General Ledger review
Ensure accounting is completed according to GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
Executes monthly close process
Review and maintain general ledger and ensures integrity of data
Ensure expenses are coded and allocated correctly to the GL.
Reviews and approves bank reconciliations
To support the overall functioning of the Finance Department
Prepare LCN for all contract funder related fiscal reviews and audits
Establish, maintain and monitor system of internal controls to ensure accurate accounting and reporting
To act in lieu of the Director of Finance when necessary by attending agency meetings or board meetings
Supports annual budgeting and planning process
Utilizes LCN Fiscal Policies & Procedures to assure proper internal controls are maintained
Maintains all finance and grant related documents in collaboration with other Finance Staff
Organizes and maintains files so that needed documents are easy to locate
Utilizes LCN’s file retention policy to manage the storage of financial documents from previous fiscal years
Other tasks as requested to support the overall functioning of the Finance Department
In addition to the responsibilities listed above, all La Casa Norte employees are responsible for contributing to the overall success of La Casa Norte by:
Attending monthly staff meetings and other staff trainings.
Participating in La Casa Norte’s fundraising events.
Working in team approach to develop new programs and/or protocols.
Perform other duties as required.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or business administration
5 years’ experience working with local, state or federal contracts and vouchering
Proficient in Excel (Excel test required)
Excellent organizational skills, time-management and detail oriented
Energetic self-starter with ability to work independently and in team settings
Excellent oral, interpersonal, written, communication and project management skills
Strong attention to detail, with analytical and problem solving skills
Strong ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks concurrently
Manage time effectively and work within stringent deadlines
Exercise good judgment in safeguarding confidential or sensitive information
