UW Medicine Finance has an outstanding opportunity for a Business Systems Analyst, UW Medicine Finance Business Systems. This individual is a problem solver who plays a critical role in defining and enabling business change. The UWM Finance Business Systems Analyst will work within cross-functional teams to identify, analyze, understand, and document business needs, processes, policy, and technology alternatives and develop the business cases and solution proposals that support decision-making among process/project owners. This individual will perform significant data and application analysis as well as business process analysis in an effort to automate manual processes, improve standardization, integration and quality. In addition, the UWM Finance Business Systems Analyst will implement comprehensive project management plans for initiatives and provide frequent, actionable communication to stakeholders to ensure programs advance as intended.This individual serves as an integral member of the UW Medicine Finance Business Systems (FBS) team. With a focus on supporting the efficient provision of high quality financial information to UWM, this position will serve as an internal customer relationship manager, acting as a direct channel of communication between technical personnel and business stakeholders. The UWM Finance Business Systems Analyst will be a key team member, directly involved in the design or modification of business and IT systems.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:Business Systems AnalysisIn collaboration with the FBS, Accounting and Finance teams, reviews, analyzes and evaluates business systems and user needs – both within the major integration initiatives and beyond.Identifies and executes on opportunities to re-engineer and automate manual processes.Researches and analyzes existing data and applications using the ability to develop and enhance SQL queries, SSRS reports, and visualizations to isolate, debug, and improve the customer usage and outputs of the applications; Participates in the design of custom applications; Provides configuration and support for financial systems applications.Clarifies operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information and evaluating output requirements and formats. Defines stakeholders, objectives, risks and success criteria.Facilitates end-user working groups to develop common understanding of needs. Develops consensus related to priorities and requirements. Develops inclusive solutions that balance trade-offs and benefits.Documents functional and non-functional requirements as well as user interaction requirements, system capabilities and specifications. Constructs workflows / charts / diagrams and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Validates resource requirements and develops cost estimate models. Organizes, prioritizes, validates and manages requirements.Formulates process and systems' recommendations, options and alternatives for leadership and stakeholder approval.Project ManagementImplements comprehensive management plans for initiatives. Participates in development of infrastructure impact statements, feasibility studies, work breakdown structures, risk management plans, communication, change management and training plans, testing plans, decision logs and routine, actionable status reporting.Clarifies operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information and evaluating output requirements and formats. Defines stakeholders, objectives, risks and success criteria.OtherActively participates in meetings, integration and standardization projects, system upgrades and long-term planning.Provides analytical support to Finance in the prioritization and resourcing of initiatives.Establishes effective, collaborative working relationships throughout the organization with staff, peers, supervisors and customers.Provides representation for UW Medicine Finance on committees or task forces as assigned.Performs other duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, or related field AND five years of professional experience to include: experience as a project lead or a project manager, preferably with systems projects and experience supporting and configuring financial systems as an applications analyst, business systems analyst or similar role.Ability to work independently, set priorities, and meet deadlines while achieving a high degree of reliability, accuracy, and productivity.
