POSITION SUMMARY Direct financial activities for the TDA and affiliated entities under direction of the Executive Director. Provides financial reporting to the boards, staff management, IRS and other taxing authorities, auditors, funding sources, the American Dental Association, TDA component societies, and members. Manage administrative and financial human resource functions. Supervise Finance Department staff. Maintain strong internal controls.
TDA affiliated entities include TDA Financial Services, Inc., TDA Member Benefits, Ltd., TDA Smiles Foundation, Texas Mission of Mercy, and TDA Political Action Committee (DENPAC).
Maintain knowledge of GAAP, Federal and State tax regulations, and historical issues related to TDA entities.
Develop financial data, reports, processes, and accounting structures to meet the needs of customers while maintaining adequate internal controls.
Work with the TDA Secretary-Treasurer to maintain cash and investment portfolios and to provide performance data.
Develop the TDA annual budget including coordination with key staff members, the Executive Director, TDA Secretary-Treasurer, and the TDA Budget, Assets & Finance Committee.
Provide support to each TDA entity in developing the annual budgets.
Work with the accounting firm on tax reporting including federal, state and local taxes including annual tax returns, retirement plan reporting, payroll taxes, property, sales and franchise taxes.
Provide support to the Audit Committee and Budget, Assets & Finance Committee.
Supervise accounts payable function for accurate costing. Ensures compliance with IRS requirements and each entity's budget.
Oversee the annual audit for all entities.
Manage the HR function of TDA which includes payroll processing, medical insurance plan, dental reimbursement, PTO schedules, 401k plan, and personnel files.
Report directly to the TDA Executive Director and work closely with the Secretary-Treasurer on all aspects of accounting functions. Recommends, implements and manages process improvements for the operation of the Finance department.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
7-10 years of related experience
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel
Experience with a variety of software packages including bank report and credit card processing
Great Plains Financial software and FRx Reporting software strongly preferred
