Advertised Summary Job Description: The Senior Director of Finance and Operations works closely with the AVP for Finance and Operations to execute a wide range of financial, operational, and technological strategies that will enhance the operational performance of the Office of Development, improve its overall financial health, and increase annual fundraising revenues for the College of Physicians & Surgeons. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical capabilities, superior writing skills and an acute attention to detail, and should also be poised, mature, professional, and able to work with a variety of personalities including senior staff members, physicians, trustees, board/committee members, benefactors and other key donors. The position will interact with a wide range of University officers, faculty, and external parties on confidential matters to ultimately aid the entire department in reaching its financial and operational goals.
This is a 3 month temporary position beginning February 2019.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires bachelor's degree or the equivalent in education and experience, plus five years of related experience.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, expertise with Excel spreadsheets, and strong proofreading skills are necessary. The candidate should be detail oriented, have superior organizational skills and be able to manage and prioritize a variety of complex projects at once. Should be resourceful, proactive, thorough, and have a focused, self-starting attitude with the ability to work independently and as a member of the team. Solid computer skills and strong competency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Powerpoint is absolutely necessary. Experience with Visio is also required. Demonstrated ability to maturely handle confidential matters and sensitive data.
Preferred Qualifications: At least 6 years of experience in a professional, academic medical center setting preferred. At least 2 years of management experience preferred. The applicant should be poised, mature, professional, and able to work with a variety of personalities at all levels of the organization.
