POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the President of Lasell Village, the Director of Finance will provide oversight and leadership for departments providing financial reporting, budgeting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable services for the Village. The Director of Finance works closely with Lasell College's CFO. The Director of Finance supervises the Accounting Supervisor, Senior Accountant, AP and Payroll Coordinator; and Billing Coordinator.
Provides strategic direction for daily operations of the following functions: general ledger/accounting, budgeting/forecasting and financial reporting, purchasing/contracting, resident billing, third party billing, and cash flow needs and projections
Serves as the leader of the finance office staff, creating a strong team environment focused on customer service to other Village departments and residents • Provides leadership and direction in the coordination and development of budgeting procedures for collecting and analyzing the annual operating and capital budgets, and the creation of related reports and analyses
Coordinates the annual medical deduction letter, actuarial analysis, and cost report, all requiring working with an outside actuary
Works with the President of Lasell Village, CFO of Lasell College, and Village managers to prepare operational metrics, benchmarks and ratios on the Village's lines of business. Prepares separate profit and loss statements for each line of business
Identifies operational improvements and revenue opportunities; conducts analyses to support recommendations for improvements; partners with appropriate managers to implement.
Ensures Business Office staff are knowledgeable of and act in compliance with Village policies and procedures, and state and federal regulations • Develops financial reporting processes for all financial aspects of the Village and its skilled nursing facility, Lasell House, including monthly and annual financial reports, third party billing, business travel and expenses, purchasing procedures, and related matters
Serves as a key decision maker and liaison with other Village departments in matters pertaining to financial management functions. Ensures resources are available to respond appropriately to sensitive questions related to policy and procedures • Acts as financial liaison and advisor for the portions of payroll that are housed in Human Resources. Works Closely with HR Manager to ensure Payroll and Benefits system is operating accurately and being used effectively (PayCom)
Supervises and coordinates Village support for the annual financial audit and 403(B) audit. Prepares responses to auditor questions, and develops policies and procedures to address audit-related issues. Also prepares IRS Form 990 tax return and Medicare cost report
Serves on various committees within the Village and potentially external organizations. May be required to attend meetings or events on behalf of the President of the Village or the CFO of Lasell College
Assists with various special projects, including those directed by the Lasell Village President and Lasell College CFO • Maintains skills and knowledge through professional associations and resources
Other duties as assigned.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting required. CPA preferred
Minimum of seven (7) years of directly related financial management experience required
Minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience required; experience managing other business/financial operations departments is important • Experience in health care and/or life plan/continuing care retirement organizations preferred.
Experience managing a healthcare payroll preferred.
Thrives in a team environment and work well with others
Intermediate level of skill with Excel
Must have professional written and verbal communication skills; strong focus on customer service both internally and externally
Able to collaborate and cooperate with all levels of employees
Able to work calmly and efficiently with frequent interruptions.
