Dillard University has consistently ranked as one of the nation’s top liberal arts universities. With historical ties to the United Methodist Church and the United Church of Christ, Dillard consistently produces graduates that excel in a variety of fields. A Historically Black University, the institution maintains a tradition that supports a mission which has advocated that all people, regardless of background, can succeed in higher education. Our signature academic programs, physics and film, and our historic programs, nursing and theater, anchor a vibrant academic culture.
Dillard is located in New Orleans, Louisiana. The city is the #1 to visit in the world in 2018 (New York Times), the #2 fastest growing airport in America, 2006-16 (FAA), #5 market for Millennial In-migration (Time), #1 city in the USA for Tech growth and the #2 city for women in Tech (SmartAsset). Forbes indicated that New Orleans is also the #4 coolest city in America.
The city and the University are completing a “radical resilience” era after Hurricane Katrina. Dillard currently has its largest enrollment since the storm, and this spring had its $160 million loan forgiven. We are looking to add student housing as over 150 students are housed at a sister institution. Dillard will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2019, signifying a major historical marker for the institution while ushering in a new era of progress.
This is a tremendous opportunity for a seasoned professional to help us imagine a greater future for Dillard. We aren’t operating from a deficit perspective, but one of opportunity and innovation. The next Vice President will help us strengthen and revolutionize our core fiscal practices, as well as provide leadership for campus expansion opportunities.
Walter M. Kimbrough, Dillard’s President, knows that a dynamic leadership team is needed to capitalize on this moment. Energetic, competent, risk-taking, progressive, great sense of humor, team oriented, and passionate about improving the lives of students are some of the qualities he seeks for this team.
