This "hands on" position supports the financial operation of the organization. The essential function of this role are:
COORDINATE FINANCIAL ACTIVITIES by assisting in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, cash management and/or payroll; preparing various financial statements and reports; maintaining accounting records to show receipts and expenditures; overseeing and/or maintaining general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records; overseeing vendor and tenant accounts; and managing and reconciling bank accounts.
ENSURE COMPLIANCE by directing internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls; establishing system controls as well as developing procedures to improve existing systems; participating in annual independent audit; and submitting required documentation to regulating bodies within expected timeframes.
ASSIST IN PLANNING by participating in organizational and cost center budgeting activities; conducting cost analyses and rate studies; coordinating preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting; reviewing financial statements with management personnel; and assisting with the implementation and maintenance of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property, and other related procedures and controls.
Progressive experience with accounting functions; consistent utilization of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Computer literate with experience using Quickbooks accounting software. Experience and comfort working with culturally diverse populations and seniors. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, co-workers, and volunteers.
Additional Salary Information: Negotiable, based on experience.

The Frisbie Senior Center is a drop-in activity center for older active adults living in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Through the Center, our membership and non-member daily users have access to a 20,000-square foot, ADA-accessible facility that offers well over 65 different program and service types – some occurring multiple times throughout the month. Aside from a variety of social and recreational activities offered, we also strive to serve as a resource clearinghouse, connecting individuals with organizations that can provide much-needed services to address the issues facing today’s seniors.
Located in the Cumberland Commons shopping center at the northeast corner of the Mount Prospect Road and Northwest Highway intersection on the border of Mount Prospect and Des Plaines - 52 E. Northwest Highway, Des Plaines, IL 60016. We are easily accessible by bus, cab, or train, and we have plenty of parking. We are now open the second and fourth Monday of each month from 8:30 am – 8:00 pm and every Thursday 8:30 am – 8:00 pm; Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8:30 am – 4:00 pm.
