The Associate Dean of Finance and Administration is a 12-month faculty appointment (tenure or non-tenure track) reporting directly to the Dean of the George R. Brown School of Engineering (SoE). The Associate Dean of Finance and Administration provides oversight of the School’s finances and internal controls, facilities, as well as the development of business plans for new programs. This position works closely with the Dean, Associate and Assistant Deans, Department Chairs, faculty and administration, and the University's business and academic offices to ensure the financial operations are efficient and effective, and to increase the revenues to the School while managing expenses.

Duties and Essential Job Functions:
Ensure the finances of the School are sound, and the internal controls and reporting tools enable successful management and stewardship of the resources.
Implement practices and develop infrastructure resources that promote and enhance the financial and business operations of the School and its departments/centers.
Cultivate partnerships with the University’s business and academic affairs offices and units, as well as with other academic, clinical and/or research entities outside the University.
Support effective business affairs interactions between the departments, the School and the University and partners.
Represents the SoE at university-wide budget committee meetings.
Have signature authority for all budget lines in the SoE.
Develop and oversee the implementation of new SoE fiscal policies and procedures for all regular and special programs.
Oversee SoE facilities and facilities personnel.
Serve as a primary resource for department chairs and center directors to get necessary and appropriate financial information, develop strategies for achieving department/center goals, and deal with problems that arise in their units, especially those problems that affect more than one department/center.
Oversee the School’s facility safety and emergency management in accordance with University policies and procedures.
Serve as liaison to Rice Engineering Alumni Board.
Serve as an approver for proposal submissions, academic visitors, and online labor redistributions as needed.
Assist the Dean in developing the annual operating budget.
Prepare the faculty salary survey and peer assessment surveys.
