JCC Chicago's Finance Managers are responsible for providing financial planning, analysis, business management, budgeting and forecasting for the areas assigned. The Finance Manager serves as the eyes and ears of the finance team, bringing to light any strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that need to be addressed and provides input into process improvement initiatives.
Key areas of responsibility:
Work with designated JCC program areas to build a budget that maintains the vision, integrity and financial objectives of the agency.
Work with designated program areas to set pricing for upcoming programs.
Work with accounting staff on Annual Financial Audit. Prepare FLUX analysis and provide explanation for variances and changes in the business. Respond to Auditors questions and requests.
Work with program and central services staff to identify journal entries and labor corrections that need to be made. Work with accounting to upload changes.
Work with program staff to understand trends and put together an updated forecast. Upload the changes into the system. Analyze and explain the variances from budget and previous projection.
Serve as a quality control liaison by working with the program staff to ensure program registrations are in the systems timely and accurately and are set up according to accounting rules (general ledger accounts, revenue deferral method, etc.).
Evaluate and challenge JCC processes on an ongoing basis. Open dialogue with other departments to identify needs, assess resources and implement changes.
Work collaboratively with program areas and central departments in developing business plans for new programs, sites, and grants.
Work closely with Business Intelligence team on designing and improving management reports, analytics and KPIs etc.
Work with Financial Resource Development and program staff on developing budgets for new grants and ensure grant funding is spent in accordance with grant agreements. Meet regularly with the teams to monitor the progress.
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting required, CPA or MBA preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting experience.
Successful experience using strong analytical and project management skills.
Demonstrated achievement a highly detailed environment that required the ability to step back to assess the big picture.
Effective use of verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain financial concept to non-financial professionals.
Demonstrated accomplishment in prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to check own work for accuracy and demonstrates consistent follow up and follow through.
A high level of proficiency in MS Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
Ability to work successfully in a team environment as well as independently.
Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills as well as an intellectual curiosity and interest in challenging the status quo!
